Are there any more 7 on 7 events before the scrimmage at Ironton on August 7?
I’d say after watching the 7 on 7 the scrimmage ought to be great for both teams.

No more 7 on 7’s for Waverly.
Looking forward to getting down to Ironton on the 7th to check out both Tiger squads.

@smurray ,

After the summer sessions and two scrimmages, could you share your thoughts on the Tiger's prospects heading into their week one opener with Miami Trace? Are they legit contenders for a gold SOC2 football? Are they maybe in more of a rebuild situation than previously thought?

A work in progress….. crazy playmakers all over the field but the oline is still without the two starters (only experience back from last year). Tigers weren’t really successful in running the ball at Ironton or last night but did a good job getting the ball into the hands of the receivers last night. Gonna be a “big play” offense. 4 different receivers with TD catches (Will Futhey (2), Crabtree, Morrison, Boles). The Boles catch and run for the long TD was a thing of beauty. The young man has unreal speed.

The defense impressed at Ironton but in my opinion took a step back last night. Maybe that’s because Ironton had starters out and Portsmouth offense was better then expected. I do know Waverly rotated a lot of different guys in on defense and two or three starters went out injured.
It will be a real shame if the one injury ends up being a career ender.

The two linemen who have been out were dressed Friday night but did not play. I don’t know their status for week 1 against Miami Trace.
Sure hoping a couple that came out of the scrimmage injured are not serious.

Waverly has some skilled players and Futhey is a stud. But these comparisons to last year are far fetched

Defenses focusing on Will Futhey (9 catches for 122 Yds through two games) by doubling with the safety so we have Penn Morrison with 10 catches for 243 Yds and 4 TD, Mark Stulley 8 catches for 139 Yds and a TD, Wyatt Crabtree 3 catches for 59 Yds and a TD, Alex Boles 3 catches for 48 Yds and a TD and Jace Hurd 36 carries for 226 Yds and 3 TD’s.

Tigers dominated a decent Miami Trace and just beat a good Johnstown team 42-14 after being tied at 14 at halftime.

Time will tell but this Tiger team, while having some things to correct, is a pretty good one.

Sounds like Waverly biggest obstacle this early in the season is attrition and all the injuries that are starting to pile on.

INDEED, Tigers cannot afford too many more injuries, as some have been season ending. Tigers were deep coming into the season but have taken a big hit at LB and RB. Tigers hope to get 2 LB’s back this week but lost 2 Friday night, one most likely season ending. They had already lost a starting RB/LB for the season and another RB/Starting LB for much of the season if not the entire year. In addition it looks like a WR may be out for the year. Have to pray these injuries stop.
