Who is even left? Warren, Cambridge, and Marietta.

Pretty sure Dover and New Philadelphia are playing Warren this year, so think they must still be in league. Can't imagine Warren would schedule them willingly. No fun for Marietta or Cambridge either.

Cambridge is no longer in the ECOL once basketball season is over. Moving to the Buckeye 8 starting w/ baseball this year. However, we still have Marietta, Warren & Dover on the schedule for this Fall. As of now, the ECOL will be Dover, Marietta & Warren.

Dover joining New Philadelphia in the Ohio Cardinal Conference?

No. Dover and NP joined the OVAC last year so that's it for Dover as of today. There has been talk for the last several years about them joining up w/ some teams North (Louisville, Canton Central, Wooster, West Holmes, Canton South to name a few) but no movement. Dover and NP are sort of on an island in relation to schools of their size.

Cambridge technically still has NP on the schedule too but also Martins Ferry on the same day. They need to find a way to get Union Local on the schedule to complete their Buckeye 8 schedule. However, NP isn't happy about it and doesn't want to cancel their game. Cambridge is also trying to get Dover off the schedule. Of course Dover isn't happy about that either.

The OVAC isn’t a real league. New Philadelphia joined the Ohio Cardinal Conference last year. They start play in 2022-2023 year. I’m surprised Dover didn’t join them

Why is that? And don't say because it doesn't have mandatory scheduling, because that doesn't hold water.

I used to live in New Philly and was surprised Dover did not join them in the conference move. The two schools are usually tied at the hip.

Dover and New Philadelphia both applied to Ohio Cardinal Conference. New Philly was accepted and Dover was not.

ECOL is done. Dover, Marietta, and Warren just scheduling each other to get games.

Unless you have been in the OVAC for decades, joining it just means you have no other options.

The OVAC does a lot of positive things for the schools and athletes, but I just have a hard time considering it a league when everyone in the same division doesn't play each other.

From what i have been told this is the last year for the ECOL. Next year the league is gone. I suppose that the league is comprised of Dover, New Philly, Cambridge, Marietta and Warren.
