Has dirt been moved yet? Or is the plan to even happen this year? Always preferred to play on grass myself but this is a good move for the kids. Wish they could remove the track and put it where the now soccer field is (assuming this field will be marked for soccer). And then move the bleachers in towards the field. Dont see that happening but a good thought. The Rock has one of the nicest atmospheres their is, but the distance from the field does hurt it. I loved the old stadium for the opposite reason. As far as facilities goes West is gonna have some of the nicest around.

It'll be nicer but I have to admit West is one of my least favorite places in the area to go to. The distance away from the field makes it awful to try and watch a game only HS field I've ever been to where they need a sign out front that says binoculars recommended. If I want to catch a West game to see how they're doing I go to an away game, it just takes away from the whole experience.

Well the rumor bugs are flying all over the place. Word is Coach Ben Johnson is stepping down as Coach and AD to take a position for the Wayne Warriors, a D1 school around Dayton. Any confirmation to this?

Haven't heard. It would probably be best for him. Alot of the West fans have wanted him out since he has been there.

Coach Johnson announced today he is leaving the West Side. He said where he is going, but my source didn’t get the info.

Ted Newsome was just hired as an intervention specialist for the Middle school. Possible next coach?

From what I gather he's going to a school closer to home with an opportunity to coach with his brothers and possibly his father. He's recently married so ththat probably factored also.

I don't know who we'll get, but whoever it is will inherent a good roster with the opportunity to win the league and advance far in the playoffs for the next few years.

I have heard Newsome and Jared Pendleton as a package deal. I have nothing against Newsome as a person, I just view few him more as a good assistant. Would hope we would test the waters. Whoever is going to be captain has a really nice boat they are getting on. I would think it would be a hot job.

In a typical situation this job would probably get a lot of interest but since its so late it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Sounds like they are set to have a lot of success.

Success in sports is about the players and execution. Not the Xs and Os.
Look no further than the basketball team this year. They found the right fit. They got a guy who had never been a head coach, but is knowledgeable about the game with a passion that the players respect and work hard for. And that's what needs to happen in football whether that's in house or out because the pieces are there to roll.

Numbers look great down to pee wee and they have several classes in a row which are talented. I think West is the team to beat in the league over the next 4 years starting this year. Team this year is very skilled with hard workers and will be the fastest team West has put on the field in several years.

Even without loaded classes incoming, West is a higher tier job in SE Ohio. Below Ironton and Burg, but in that next level.

With loaded classes coming, it moves to that top level. Good luck to them on finding the right fit.

I'm sure many have wondered this but I just don't see what good it would do him. If he's going to want to take the next step in his coaching career I don't think a sideways move is going to help him any. Unless he's 100% good with being around this area and working with schools around here the next logical step would be moving up to a higher division in HS or possibly lower level college assistant somewhere.
