No.

Edit: No. But, big props to Ironton scheduling a game they have no real chance of winning.

Regardless of the outcome, I give big props to Ironton for scheduling this game. This game can only help the Fighting Tigers going forward.

I don't think Moeller will be intimidated by Tank Stadium, considering the places they have to play on the road (Cincinnati Elder, St.Xavier, LaSalle).

This game won't hurt Ironton in the playoff standings, and probably the most important thing is for the Tigers to come out of the contest with no significant injuries.

Not saying Ironton can't win, but honestly they are a decided underdog in this one.

greygoose: I would say that Moeller has a size, skill, and depth advantage over the Fighting Tigers. Most generally that is common when large D1 schools are playing a school several divisions lower, especially a DV school.

Yes , Ironton could defeat Moeller. Is it likely? No. Depth kills.

I understand that Moeller plays a much tougher schedule since they're D1 but lets not forget they were 3-6 last year. They weren't world beaters by any means.

I actually think Ironton WILL win this game by a slight margin.

Doesn't Ironton have a game or two before Moeller? Or are they already chalking those up as wins?

Here is Moeller's football schedule from last season:

Bishop Hartley..........34-17 W
East Central Indiana...6-21 L
Louisville Trinity........7-44 L
Cincinnati Elder........22-35 L
Cin. St.Xavier...........14-43 L
Cincinnati LaSalle......25-27 L

Playoffs:

Hamilton................43-27 W
St.Xavier................14-45 L (St.Xavier won the D1 state title)
Fort Thom.Highlands.50-14 W

3-6 record, but against a very tough schedule. Moeller won their first game this year vs. D1 Lakota East 42-27.

Not a chance but kudos for scheduling this game. Moellers schedule is full of great teams. I guess it could happen but I don’t see it. Build off the small victories during the game. Hopefully ironton comes out healthy and no injuries

Someone made the analogy of the OVC being the Big 10 or whatever on another thread, like nah.

Ironton is more like Boise State, and Moeller is like Georgia.

The answer is NO! However, I understand why Ironton is playing this game. Ironton plays a weak non-conference schedule and they are in an even weaker league. Ironton wants to see their kids have to play 4-quarter against a big dawg. Also, they want to find the weak links and no better way to expose them than to jump into a game with both feet against a powerhouse. As far as Archbishop Moeller, they just thumped Lakoda East and will make a run for the D1 state title this year.

Playing a team like Moeller and losing will much better prepare you for the likes of Kirkland
then beating up on rockhill and coalgrove

Moeller is not the teams of old. They have been down and I would say they are far from back.

Ironton was down and it seems they are nearly back to power.

Is a large down school able to beat a "we are back small school?"
