Week 4: Zane Trace (2-1) @ Piketon (3-0)

Post by eagles73Taylor »

The Pioneers hitch up the wagons and head south on 23 to take on the Redstreaks. First league game, ZT has lost to Logan Elm 28-27 in overtime, beat Madison Plains 56-0, and Vinton Co. 28-21. Piketon coming in with wins over Minford 28-6, Wellston 43-13, and Valley 62-36.

Should be a good matchup in the glowing village!

These teams never played last year. Zane Trace will have to figure out a way to slow down the Piketon offense. The Pioneers will score points and have some weapons. Zane Trace is better than the last three years when they only won 9 total games.

They lost to an average at best Logan Elm in OT.
Beat an average Vinton County in a tight game.
Also, defeated a way below average Madison Plains squad.

ZT does have tight game experience where Piketon has had all blowouts.

ZT is much improved. That improvement will show later on in their SVC schedule. Tough opener @ Piketon. Piketon rolls, just too explosive.

Going to be a tough game on the road for Zane Trace. Piketon’s air game will be to much for a talented but young ZT secondary. The pioneers will keep it close for a half or so but the red streaks pull away in this one.

I do think this is Piketon's only other game this year outside of PV where they'll be challenged until playoff time. With that being said, Piketon's offense simply to much for ZT, Piketon by 2 scores, 42-28

I agree, I think Piketon goes 10-0 unless Paint Valley gets em.

I’m hearing Piketon might be the best team in southern ohio besides Waverly.

Piketon would throttle waverly. If they played I think we’d be looking at a score of around

Piketon 88
Waverly 64

Just a guess

Piketon has always been able to score points. Their defense was always the question mark. I know the d is improved. This year just feels different for the Streaks.

Piketon has a very good team and I think we might be able to put them in that top 5 mark possibly, but after watching the film against Valley (with minimal play makers) I still think Piketon has problems stopping the run. The size of PV line and that running game is going to be a HUGE problem for them. I couldn't rank them ahead of Waverly, Burg, Ironton, or Jackson and based on what the Trojans are doing offensively that would be a toss up and with those 2 defenses that game could be 75-70. Trimble and Fort Frye would have to go ahead of them as well, they're a VERY good team but that run defense at least from what I seen is still a huge liability.

Piketons overall wins versus Zane Trace is 31 and 17. Last met in 2019 Piketon won 50-28. ZT’s last win came in 2017, 35-27.

I don’t know if Zane Trace has the athletes to match up with Piketon. If Piketon loses a game this year in the regular season it will be a team that can keep up with their fire power Piketon defense is not complicated nor super disciplined they definitely leave plenty to be attacked just because of scheme and alignment with that being said I don’t think Zane Trace will be able to outscore the streaks
