trojandave wrote: Tue Sep 07, 2021 12:48 pm I feel good about the Trojans being 3-0, but I remember Portsmouth going to Rock Hill and seeing the Redmen running the ball almost at will. The Trojan defense will be tested because I look for RH to play a physical type of football. The PHS offense is fun to watch, with so many weapons and gamebreakers. I am still looking for better pass protection for Drew Roe; against Cincinnati Deer Park he made some great throws out of the pocket which were not necessarily designed that way.

GO TROJANS!!!

I agree. The offensive line is still not that great. Roe runs a lot. But the defense so far has been amazing. Something I’m not used to seeing. 3 games stand out fairland, gallia and ironton. Trojans need to win those, win 1 or compete. All 3 are away games too.

Only game I saw Portsmouth play. They are athletic on defensive side of the ball. But valley moved the ball between the tackles at a decent clip.

It would be fun to see Portsmouth undefeated going into Ironton week.

It’s very well possible, they won’t have trouble with anyone leading up to ironton except fairland and maybe gallia, but I don’t see them beating fairland. Only time will tell though!

Because Rock Hill was so good at running the ball against maybe the worst team in Oak Hill history they scored 23 points so that means they are better at running than Valley. Hard to beat your evidence man. Let’s just say you’re correct, 0 chance they are better running the ball than West, and probably not better than DP.
Rock Hill does have a lot of depth in the backfield 8+ boys with carries last week. OH was their first game after a 10 day quarantine so they came out pretty flat in the first half. I believe this will be a better game than most people think. Good luck to both teams.

Way too early for must wins but if the Trojans want to make the playoffs and not rack up a ton of travel miles we don't have a big margin for error. We have beaten three 1-1 teams and have two winless teams ahead of us, we need to take care of business one week at a time.

A lot of people have been questioning if Portsmouth can beat Fairland and I don't see why. Just out of curiosity, why won't they in your opinion? Let's look at Fairland vs West and Portsmouth vs West. Things seem to paint a different picture based on that but IDK. Maybe Fairland has some insane DBs that can keep up with the Trojans' skill players?

It is true that if you look at those two scores, Portsmouth looks like the better team. I don’t think that fairlands offense is as sturdy as Portsmouth’s yet, the loss of last years QB Ward and star receiver Hunt has put a considerable dent in fairlands ability to score. Fairlands current quarterback is young and still getting used to playing varsity. Fairlands defense is improved from last year though, holding ironton to only 3 scores this year, and I wouldn’t say the DBs are insane by any means, but they will be able to keep up with Portsmouths skill players. Last year fairland beat Portsmouth 34-6 on top of Ward throwing 5 interceptions that game. Now a lot can change in a year, and a lot has changed, but I see fairland coming out on top. But it should be a close game, likely the toughest on fairlands schedule next to the ironton game.

In order for a home playoff game the Trojans will probably have to go 8-2, 7-3 would more than likely put them just outside of a home game around 9-11 seed. The Gallia game next week will be a huge factor in Portsmouths post-season. I like their odds.

Valley and West with big wins tonight. Doesnt mean too much but every win for a team the Trojans have defeated is good for the Trojans come playoffs. I like Portsmouth's odds more and more each week.

Trojans will be undefeated entering the halfway point of the reg season next week. They keep winning and games against Fairland and Ironton get bigger and bigger as the weeks pass.
