Week 5 : Portsmouth 4-0, 1-0 @ Gallia Academy 2-1, 0-0

Post by portsmouth_98 »

Let's get this one started. Unfortunately I'm traveling this week and will miss this game. I think Portsmouth has a great shot to win this game this year but man they always have our number. Gallia is one of the few schools that can typically match our athletes year in and year out. They have a 4 game winning streak, have won 9 of the last 10 games and 21 of 32 overall. We need to go to Gallia and get this game in order to make sure we get our first home playoff game since 2002.

This game right here is what decides the Trojans post-season. This game is HUGE but I like Portsmouths odds. Trojans by 2 scores

Portsmouth is the better team this year and should win this game, I’d say by a few scores. Time for the Trojans to break the losing streak against the blue devils.

Depends on which Gallia Academy team shows up. And if the refs from the Point Pleasant game make a reappearance. Could easily see the Devils by 3 TDs. Could see the Trojans by 3 TDs. A close game would surprise me more than a blowout, in this one.

Id say somewhere in the ball park of 28-14 Trojans.

Portsmouth on a good path and this should be a really good game. No disrespect to portsmouth but to me this game is all about gallia academy. will the blue devils be healthy. is Woodson ready to make his season debut. If gallia academys top 17 or 18 kids healthy they will be able to run between the tackles. if they can run between the tackles they will be able to slow the game down and will win. I dont mean that gallia is going to take the air out of ball. but if gallia cannot run between the tackles it turns their offense in to a big play chunk offense. we are going to see big plays and big chunk plays. But if that is all gallia can do then they are going to spend way to much time on defense.

If woodson is healthy i am not going to really say how much better that makes the offense. But it is a huge change to the defense. on one side at corner you have Franklin. even in the meigs game i think they only completed one pass to his side. if possible i think woodson is maybe a better cover back then franklin. If those two are on field you can really free up someone else to put pressure on QB.

Even thought they probably wont play man coverage if those guys are healthy you could play man about just about any team we would face. Because gosh if they have a third threat with speed you could put briar williams on him. even though i like him spying and rushing the QB.

someone will win this game by a couple of Td's if gallia is healthy i think it will be them. if they cant run between the tackles portsmouth gets too many possesions and seperates and wins.

Gallia Academy has been a nemesis on the gridiron for Portsmouth for a long time. The Trojans just need to keep doing what they're doing.....playing sound football on both sides of the scrimmage line. If they do that, they will give themselves an excellent chance to win. I just hope Memorial Field is in good condition.......any amount of rain will certainly make the surface a difficult track and slow down the Trojans' outstanding air attack that so far has been very difficult for the previous 4 opponents to defend.

Huge game for Portsmouth in terms of the OVC and a push for the playoffs......hopefully there won't be any Covid issues.

Great stats and records, Portsmouth98.....keep them coming.

Trojans have not allowed a rushing TD so far this season and have went against some pretty decent RBs.

First off, nobody has been able to break our defense running it between the tackles all season. Secondly we definitely have multiple threats that turn on the jets from all over the field. Thirdly it's hard to gauge as Gallia holds the deed to Portsmouth for sure. There were years when you guys have lost 2 or 3 games to teams we beat and still took us down so I'm not going to get too confident.

GA is going to see reasonable success moving the ball by running with a couple passes here and there, just not enough to get into the end zone reliably.

PHS is going to have success throwing quick short passes to Bryant, Pendleton, and Carr with a mix of handoffs to Johnson and some QB draws along with a few bombs to Bryant, Pendleton, Carr, and Duncan (who had a great game vs RH).

27-14 PHS

Interesting game. I’ll give Portsmouth a SLIGHT edge but anything can happen. If it happens to rain a decent bit on Wed-Thursday…..I’ll switch the edge to Gallia Academy
