That too we’ve ran the screen to death here early in the season hopefully the offense gets more creative now that there’s a good bit of film on our offense. I’d like to see Futhey get more targets early in games to make it easier for Morrison and Stulley as well. I believe in our coaching staff though biggest drive of the game they made the calls and that excellent 2 point play
What drive me nuts is that the deep ball was there all night and we stayed away from it. The safety seemed to stay in a bubble 15- 20 yards down field and didn’t stay with the wr. Many missed opportunities. On the other side I was proud of Marquez. He had a really good game in coverage.

The run game with more variation than 10 yd gain and repeat was there too.

Playcall was the worst I’ve seen in years and they still won.
Took guts for that 2pt Conversion and was masterful.

I agree with the deep ball it’s there both Morrison and Futhey have great ball tracking and Wade can get it there. I think the offense can simplify some things and made better adjustments. One step at a time
As a Trojan fan im glad they didnt go deep more than they did lol but I have to agree Waverly has the ability to go deep constantly. Not sure what they have done in other games but should really take more shots downfield. QB seems trustworthy, recievers are some of the best in the area with good height.

Wow what a game! It was all that was advertised. Speed all over the field tonight, and a lot of athletes on both teams. Congrats to Waverly on pulling this one out. NOT SO FAST IRONTON AND FAIRLAND! OVC better be on high alert! PTown is the real deal, and from what I seen tonight, I think they are definitely capable of beating anyone left on their schedule. Trojans are not to be taken lightly.

Well in the last two years of Futhey there were way more shots downfield than tonight. This year have been a little less but tonight was a lot less. Waverly has faced some good dbs. Once again not taking a shot but Portsmouth didn’t put as good an athlete on Futhey as any of the other 3 teams they have faced. Portsmouth had a lot more athletes on D than Unioto or Miami Trace. Johnstown is down but they didn’t do to bad covering him. Penn Morrison had racked up all these receiving yards for good reason. He was covered well tonight.this was the best opportunity Futhey has had so far. Portsmouth also had an extra defender for everyone else because Futhey wasn’t doubled all night. Worked out well and Waverly didn’t take advantage of it.

I would say they'll have him go deep more as the season goes, maybe they're just being patient with new QB1.. I might be a little hesistant too after losing Shanks to graduation. Morrison is the real deal. Having him and Futhey to throw the ball to must feel amazing lol Futhey was talked about a lot in the off-season for good reason but Morrison is gaining some well deserved attention.

Yeah he’s blessed for sure.
Stulley was pretty quiet tonight but has been huge in previous games. Also Boles great speed is surely missed. Added so much to the offense.Don’t know if he is hurt or faking an injury to wear that red and yellow lighting outfit😂😂 but Waverly is real banged up right now. So much depth to start the season just to be bone dry at the end of the game tonight.
Crabtrees next man up has worked so far. But I hope that philosophy isn’t tested anymore

you almost got beat by as5 team you thought you was going to wax and still won by only by 1 point on a last seconds desperate 2 point conversion lmao no wonder you was mad at wch and chillicothe for canceling lmao.

all I heard was two great defenses and almost 100 points in this one ?
I don’t know how many people were going around saying both of these teams had great defenses? Offenses sure, didn’t see many saying this would be a 14-7 sloberknocker. Every post I seen really focused on scoring. That said 69 isn’t really all they close to 100. Now I was on here talking about the Trojans defense being improved. I still stand by that regardless of the amount of points given up. Still haven’t given up a rushing score. Waverly defense was obviously pretty solid to be able to slow Roe down through the air, something 4 other teams didn’t do. No one expected this to be a defensive game though. Lol

First, 69 points if quite a way from 100. Second, Waverly has 219 boys and Division 4 in Ohio is 209-271, so Waverly is much closer to division 5 than they are to division 3. Third, a little punctuation and capital letters would help folks understand what you are trying to say a little better. And finally, everyone complains about their injuries. I understand that you are young evidently, but why all the outrage?

First, congratulations to the Waverly Tigers on the win......they came through in the clutch with the winning TD and 2 Pt conversion.

To our Portsmouth Trojans.......we are so PROUD of them!!......there were a lot of doubters before the game, but now many of them are believers.....they showed against a very good Waverly team that they themselves are a very good football team, taking the Tigers to the final seconds. What will come out of this tough loss will be a better Trojan football team that can win the OVC and advance in the playoffs. Nobody left on Portsmouth's schedule has the offense that Waverly has. Even though the Tigers scored 35 points, it was not an easy earned 35 points. PHS did get a number of stops, including a goal line stand at the 1 yard line when WHS has a first down at the 1.

Feel very good about these Trojans......let's get that OVC title!! It can happen!! GO TROJANS!!

One step at a time
Might have been the pass rush Portsmouth had. Might have been the best all year.
Totally agree. The Trojans got after Wade in the first half and obviously had him out of rhythm. When Hurd went down, I looked at Dad and said we’re in trouble. I thought the Trojans won all three facets of the game in the first half. My Tigers were in trouble. Credit the Tiger coaching staff for keeping the ship going forward on a rough night for them as well. Credit to the kids for fighting until the final bell (both squads). I really enjoyed watching Roe again. He doesn’t overwhelm you in any phase, but dies them all well…and man, does he make great decisions. I love how he gets north/south as soon as possible when tucking it. The kid never gives up on a play, and the Trojans are WAY better up front than they were in the scrimmage. Although I think both teams have a ways to go, you couldn’t have picked a better match for either team last night. Thank you Trojans for coming and putting on a show!

I’ll be rooting for you guys to win the OVC would love some L2 points 8-)

In all seriousness they will turn some heads and they did so last night almost winning. Quarterback is dynamic and the offense can move. Best of luck rest of the way!

If you’re talking about for Portsmouth it’s Hammond. His dad Chad was quite the player for Portsmouth back in the day as well. Beau has really made a notable jump from last season to this season.

If there is such thing as a moral victory Portsmouth earned one. Played there hearts out. I picked waverly to win but eating crow on the score. Looking at the stats Portsmouth got lit up on the secondary but waverly qb is very accurate and receivers flat out Catch the ball. I’m more mad today because the way we played last night we would of beat gallia in my heart. Instead of possibly getting some kind of points we got nothing out of it. Great job Trojans. You can very well walk into ironton week 10 at 8-1

Stulley 8 receptions for 119 yards and 1 TD
Read that stat line and was suprised. I would of figured 40-60 yards and no tds. A quiet night for him being over 100 is awesome.just used to him breaking something big and I didn’t recall that. I would of thought will would of had way more yards as well.I was just happy stulley didn’t stay out with the injury and played good defense late in the game.
