A lot schools would be very happy with that.

Best five-year runs in GA football history:

1999-2003 - 45-14 (.763) - Saunders/Bokovitz

1991-1995 - 37-13 (.740) - Brent Saunders

1947-1951 - 33-11-2 (.739) - Halderman/Souder/Gibson/Schroth

1970-1974 - 34-13-2 (.714) - John Ecker

2017-2021 - 33-14 (.702) - Alex Penrod

1984-1988 - 34-16-3 (.670) - Brent Saunders

Penrod's 5-year run 7th best in program history and the 4th best by a single coach in the entire history of GA football.

Same. Huntington will not replace Coach Keller with someone better. If he WANTS to leave that is one thing but for Huntington to think they can find better, good luck.

To each his own. We all have opinions. The next coach at Huntington should be Spencer Smith. And yes Smith will do just as good of a job or I will say better then Keller.

This is all great but the teams Penrod has had rank even higher on this list! Has not coached to the potential of his teams in the last five years. Consistent underperformer every year. Makes you think that maybe it could be a leadership problem.

This coach at Logan needs the time to run through a period of five years to see if his program is catching on in the lower grade. Does Logan still have youth tackle. If so, how have they been doing. If that program isn't going anywhere maybe that where it should restart.

Who should Gallia have beaten that they lost to? It’s hard for me to see how 1-2 losses (including playoffs, including to Ironton) is “consistent underperformed.”

in 2014 thru 2016 this team was was 6-24. go back and look at threads from then. gallia academy has no talent at any level they will be down for years to come. his first year we were 5-5 then 9-1 9-1 then 4-1 or 5-1 and one last year. If you want to say they should of beat coal grove i will give you that but but if you look at most teams that missed two or three consecutive weeks during the season each one of them struggled the first week back. Point pleasant is 7-1 and ranked 3rd in state of west virginia, and point pleasants one loss came to 8th ranked triple AAA team in west virginia. maybe it is a game they should of won after all point pleasant what led a whole last 3 minutes of game. i Get west virginia football is more like a region compared to state of ohio but still a very solid team. everyone is entitle to their own opinions and own expectations of a coach. so you take a program that was basically a dumpster fire and inf 5 years you have no loosing records and you have people that talk about you like you are one of the better programs around that is pretty decent job.

This years team did not meet expectations and never jelled as a team. That is concerning so if you want to question him based on this years outcome i get people not being satisfied

You’re referring to Point Pleasant, WV? The same head coach that has 121 wins, 12 playoff appearances, 7 second round appearances, 2 State Semifinal appearances, and a State Runner Up since 2008? I think that’s a coach that you keep as long as he wants to stay. Coach Darst and his staff are one of the finest around in the area.

Great points, and to be honest, a lot of this year is on the players and entitled parents. Many have been divas since middle school ball. Too many coaches are let go because Johnny got upset and Johnny's parents get other parents to help them go after big bad coach. Maybe tell Johnny's parents to stick it!

They have been consistently pretty good. Just won the pee wee super bowl. JR high had a rough season.

Right and thanks for the input. Though misdirected, the Point Pleasant post highlights what - on the surface, to an outsider - is puzzling about the Gallia talk. I just looked back 4 seasons (including this year); they haven’t lost to a “bad” team. Easy to say you should beat Point, but I can’t see how that’s a given or a bad loss either. I see Coal Grove is slightly above .500, so yeah, maybe they were upset. Jesus, it’s one game. Then it’s really about their style?

What would be the big grand plan that would make Gallia perform to your expectations, as in, win the 1 or 2 games that you didn’t?

Sometimes I don’t think parents /fans have a real handle on just how much work goes into any level of success and how you just won’t always win them all.
