The Cats have played in 2 state championships and 3 state semi-finals since 2013 (8 years) and have competed against (and beat) some of the better small school programs in the state - so I'm not sure I'd go degrading them too much.
Thank you 👍 some just love to hate

Gonna be a dogfight but the buckeyes will come out on top. Athens has some speed and athletes but 11on11 the buckeyes are better on film and paper

The only weapon Athens has is their QB. He's a very good athlete. He will have some success but as a team I don't think they will be able to stop the Buckeyes run game. I'm not sure they can stop the passing game either. It is a rivalry game so I'm sure the Bulldogs will come out fired up Friday night. Athens will need some kids to really step up this week if they want to have any chance to be in the game in the 4th quarter.
I don’t think u been watching games if u think QB is only weapon. I’m not going to comment on Athens D, but this Friday will b the best athletes NY has seen as a whole since week 3. This game is closer than all the SEOP experts think
Athens 35-34.

What am I missing? Marietta and Logan both beat Athens. VC crushed Athens. How or why will this game be close? Did Athens get a bunch of transfers or move ins for the last game?

Not for sure, but I think Athens played Marietta without their starting QB and the Logan game could have very easily gone to Athens. If Athens can get a good running back next year they will be very good.

Post season should be a priority, that’s why Athens can’t compete. Just as they have in j. H. Football play who we can beat and make excuses why we can’t play the other games. They’ve did this before playing everyone in the league, except N. Y. And V. C. One year 🤷‍♂️ Cowards🤷‍♂️
Lmao Athens beat Tri Valley, Columbus DeSales, Springfield Shawnee, ASVSM, Logan Elm, Circleville, Granville and Tri Valley again for good measure playing that TVC regular season schedule.

Sorry, not buying it. If Logan beat you need more than a running back. Marietta also very bad.

I wasn't trying to sell it to you. I'm just saying Athens is better than when the season was nearly half over.

It’s the rivalry game for Athens so usually close until the 4th. NY’s defense is really good tho. Athens is young and was missing its best players for the start of the season

FWIW Athens had their QB in the Marietta game. It was Marietta that was down 10 starters. Unless Athens has improved a ton, I can’t see them beating NY.

Could have been his first game back. If so it was without a lot of practice.

Game will be closer then expected I believe. The two teams do not like each other a whole lot. Athens is very young and is getting better. NY is pretty young as well. Should be another stretch of good games going forward.

I can see the passing game giving NY some fits if Athens QB is healthy. With that being said, I’ll take NY.
NY - 36
Athens - 27

Just for fun, CalPreps has this game as
NY - 38
Athens - 13
