Burg 23 West 14 2021 Playoffs

Post by The Nature Boy »

Well, seems like the new boss is same as the old boss. This should be a good game in a rematch of SOC II powerhouses. It's the playoffs and anything can happen.

I doubt this will be a running clock. I’ll go burg 28-7

Well after last week West fans were left saying their defense is much better than it showed, they'll have their chance to prove it. Problem is even if the defense plays better I don't think they can do anything offensively, Burg by 4 scores.

This will be West's 3rd straight postseason they will face Burg. Burg won 52-7 in the first round of 2018 and 47-13 in the 2nd round last year.

Radio said West started 6 drives inside the 5 yard line. It seemed like Wheelersburg’s starting field position was closer to midfield. That’s not a recipe for success. Wheelersburg has a great kicker but West has to play better on Special teams.

After the horrid start West made some adjustments defensively and didn’t play bad. The missed tackles on #2 inside and #18 on the outside we’re the back breakers.

If West plays better on special teams and gets settled in early they absolutely can compete in this game

I watched West vs Minford a few weeks ago and they just couldn't seen to compete. They didn't appear to be the hard hitting West teams we saw in the past. If they couldn't establish an identity in 10 weeks it's not likely they'll figure it out in the next couple of days.

West has played some good games. Easily could’ve beaten Fairland. Played right with Waverly for 3.5 quarters. Won at what turned out to be a good Kipp team. But no question West has to play better. Minford game was bad. Minford was more physical and took it to West. I think the other guy’s post about not playing with moxie is legit.

Remember though this is still a young team. Basically start 2 seniors, start 2 freshmen on defense, and the secondary is 3 sophomores and a junior. That is where a lot of the hits come from in football and those guys are still green

Not trying to start an argument, but people on here have said West is young for a couple years now. Even if they start a few underclassmen, they’ve played 10 games plus a scrimmage or two. They’re not green anymore. Burg plays their share of underclassmen as well. I’m hoping for a more competitive game from West this time around, but I just don’t see them playing 37 points better.

Go BURG. Closer game this time around, I'll say around a 20 point difference in the pirate's favor.

It’s a mental thing really in this matchup. The atmosphere & The coaching is what separates these two teams this year. #2 needs to touch the ball a lot more for Burg to have a successful run in the playoffs.

Hopefully that's what they have been saving him for.

There are certain things people don’t know about players on teams. #2 is being utilized the right way.

The fighting that occured behind West's bleachers last week was entertaining.

The game itself was not.

If it comes down to fights behind the bleachers I'm going with West in a repeat...... but since this comes to Football I think I'm going to stick with Burg 35-7.

Not sure if #2 ever fully recovered from injury, if Burg has just been saving him for playoff run, or if there something else going on. I just hoping for a big game from him at some point in playoffs. With that being said, Glover has done a great job this year and still in line for a lot of carries.

bbjunky: I heard it was Friday Night Fights behind the bleachers last week! Might have to get there early this time and set up a lawn chair on the hill as the game wasn't too entertaining.*
