They will be able to fill with solid athletes, but can they fill in the selfless toughness that those guys supplied?

The freshmen have a few good athletes. Couple receivers and quarterback could develop into plus players. Not a lot of size. Unfair to compare them to that class
Williams and the kicker are the two biggest holes to fill. But I believe the other positions voided will be fine.

Williams, Clark, Swords, and other seniors gonna be tough to replace. Burg has a lot of kids that got valuable experience/playing time last year. Also get Arthur back which is a positive. Ironton also has a lot of returners and get Carter, Carpenter back with addition of Felder. Should be great week 1 matchup

I know you can't just up and replace Sammons but the 8th grade kicker I seen kicking in pre-game was hitting 35 yarders with relative ease. Not saying he's the starting kicker but that kid looked to be pretty solid.

He’s pretty good. They have a junior to be that will probably take over kicking duties before him if he comes out. Starts on soccer team. Tryouts for a punter I’m afraid though.

If Wheelersburg is to have a better than .500 record this upcoming year, it’ll be the 58th consecutive year of doing so.

9 Undefeated Seasons
2 State Championships: 1989 and 2019
8 State Semifinal Appearances: 1981, 1989, 1991, 1994, 1998, 2015, 2017, and 2018.
35 SOC Championships
46 Seasons with at least 7 wins
45-31 in the Playoffs

Records vs SOC and Scioto County:

Vs Glenwood (New Boston): 17-16-1
Vs Minford: 61-6
Vs Northwest: 48-8
Vs Notre Dame: 20-20-1
Vs Oak Hill: 17-9-1
Vs Portsmouth: 25-11
Vs Sciotoville: 23-12-4
Vs Portsmouth West: 46-26-2
Vs Valley: 40-5
Vs Waverly: 48-26
Total: 345-139-8

Looks like everyone needs to take notes on what New Boston and ND are doing

I hesitate to point this out, as your history tid bits are always so very interesting and I applaud your knowledge....

But burg won in 2017. I'm sure that's a typo. Just pointing it out.

Is QB a forgone conclusion or do we think that's a position battle to watch?

I’m guessing it’s #8’s to lose…then the next year be a competition between #10 and the sophomore to be. The young gun has outstanding potential…be fun to watch if he can bring it to fruition.

The starter is returning, so I’m guessing ok

I guess I thought that with another year, 10 and 8 would be alot closer of a battle. What offense they are running would also be a factor too I'm sure

Anything is possible. A few years back a senior returning Qb who was district offensive MVP and Allstate was beat out.

Hearing rumblings of a Vinton County/Wheelersburg matchup in the future. Anyone from Burg hearing the same?

Jackson declined for whatever reason, as did Logan. Burg called VC. Kudos to them.

The Ironmen didn’t need a game this fall and as mentioned before. They are foaming at the mouth for a Regional Championship and VC in 2022 isnt gonna help prepare them that much for a run to the Regional. The Wellston mess VC benefited some as they snagged a couple of Wellstons best athletes. That will help.

VC didn’t need a game this fall either. We’re talking future matchups.

If they called Vinton , then make it happen. You’ve been looking to upgrade , Wheelersburg is smaller than Vinton. It’s on Vinton now to make this happen.
