Well, if thats' the case you just gotta go beat them. Have that mindset. Thats' what Kirtland does, and it works at least sometimes.

Kirkland is a brand of Vodka, 80 proof to be exact, not a town or a school. No imitations here pal.

Alexander 191
Meigs 189
Wellston 163
Nelsonville-York 117
I’m very shocked by River Valley’s numbers. Hopefully their new football coach can bring some numbers out to play football. I know they struggled with numbers last year.

It will depend on the competitive balance adjustments and the cutoff.

Should be close, Nelsonville-York going to D7 maybe?? No idea how many kids graduate and come in from 8th grade.

Number of students is down across the state. Expect the division cutoff numbers to be lower than last time.

Muskingum Valley League
Boys count (total count) for grades 9-11 on 10/31/2021.

Definitely Big School Division (above 450 boys and girls)
Tri-Valley 337 (689)
John Glenn 276 (533)
Sheridan 267 (534)
Philo 258 (453)

Middle Group (between 400 and 450)
Maysville 220 (413)
River View 218 (434)
Morgan 214 (415)
New Lexington 203 (402)

Definitely Small School Division (under 400 boys and girls)
Meadowbrook 192 (376)
Coshocton 174 (358)
West Muskingum 150 (322)
Crooksville 117 (231)

MVL uses overall ohsaa number in 2022 to set the divisions for 2024-2028. So unless something happens in appeal, River View remains in Big Division, New Lexington remains in Small Division, Morgan (to the Big), and Maysville (to the Small) switch divisions.

Dumb question, could Marion local chose to play a higher division if they wanted?

I am pretty sure that a team can choose to play up a division, however in this case I don't believe it would be wise for ML to play in the D6 playoffs with Kirtland appearing to land in D6 this year.

Kirtland has a ton of open enrollment kids from Mentor. How will that factor in?

Maybe CB numbers? Idk. Cardinal Mooney with 119 kids, I think they will end up in D6 for a few years, then D7. Sad to see the program like this right now.

I doubt it effects them very much, they were barely DV as it is unless they got in 20-25 kids in.

Just throw crap at the wall and see what sticks. 🙄
Kirtland's competitive balance number last year was 0.

Wellston enrollment is closer to the smallest team in the Hocking than it is Athens. Athens in the Ohio is like if we were in the Hocking. What a shame.

Dont forget about Tri-Village. They probably have the best back in D7

Man this would really stink for Morgan, most likely moves up to D2 in basketball in both boys and girls and then moved to the big school division in the MVL. Does the MVL take into account the competitive balance adjustment or just use the base numbers?

Just base number. Hard to use CB when every sport has a different CB.

Schools have until next Friday to appeal if they think the number is wrong. I think some schools should be going through it kid by kid to make sure it is correct.

No way Fairland will be able to weasel there way into d-7 this year like they have managed to do in the past. They are double the size than most every d7 team. And then you add in 10 transfers on there team. There’s no reason they shouldn’t have won it all. My gosh talk about an unfair advantage. 🤮
