Logan Football 2022

Post by Logangrad »

Aug.19 VS Jackson 7:00 PM
Aug. 26 VS Teays Valley 7:00 PM
Sept. 2 AT Sheridan 7:00 PM
Sept. 9 VS Warren 7:00 PM
Sept. 16 VS Chillicothe 7:00 PM
Sept. 23 AT Athens 7:00 PM
Sept. 30 AT St. Charles 7:00 PM
Oct. 7 AT Buckeye Valley 7:00 PM
Oct. 14 VS Fort Frye 7:00 PM
Oct. 21 AT Zanesville 7:00 PM

Schedule will be daunting again I think. Home opener against long time rival Jackson and then 4 of 5 on the road to finish.

What can we expect back in the way of skilled players on both sides?

2-8 at worst with guaranteed wins against Meigs and Athens. Cant' see better than 5-5 unless some of the other teams on there are way down.

That first game will be reminder for why Logan chose to duck and run from the SEOAL.

For your info Logan and Warren were the last team left in the SEOAL. Jackson left because they had been seeing the writing on the wall.

Meigs backed out of the game with Logan.

So Logan will play AT Buckeye Valley on Oct. 7.

Did Meigs ever beat Logan in the recent series?

Brayden Sturgell will be the best "skill" player on both sides of the ball. Could see him getting a look as more of a runner (replacing Traten Poling) as the weak half after playing quarterback last year.

Quarterback has good depth with Sturgell, Wyatt Woodgeard, and Jack Walsh.

Jack Brown and Tyler Dawson are back at fullback. Chris Gompf will get some look in here as well I think.

Alex Thompson, Varik Fick, Kaden Morgan, and Jeremy Fraley are other runners.

Izaac Swope is back at split end and Easton Castle should be back after missing last season due to injury.

Defensively - Brown, Dawson, and Gompf should be at the linebacker spots. Ryan Harden played a lot at outside backer.

Sturgell should be slated for the Adjuster position.

Up front, Cayden Alford, Conner Carrier, Kallen Wilson, Anthony McCune, Avery Linton, Dalton Brooks (TE/DE) are all back. Sophomore Elijah Yates will likely find a spot as well.

Meigs won in 2016 - so Logan was 6-1 in the post-SEOAL series.

Strong talk from a school who wants to only play schools smaller than them. Let us know when you decide to grow a set.

Yea but that one guy from Logan wrote that letter to the state saying Logan is really a D5 or D6 football school. So that's the types of teams they should be playing. Also that they should be in the SE D4 basketball tourney. Not sure when the OHSAA is going to get on that but I think Logan wants to get ahead of it so they're ready when the changes are made. That's probably why they are playing teams like Fort Frye and Shadyside. But hey, at least they are playing good teams in those divisions.

Its always good to stay on the OHSAA radar. I wrote an email about that ineligible kid from Fed Hock and it helped us. Maybe if one of the Logan grannies would write a strongly worded email about the low number of kids per acre in Logans district they could get to D6.

As stated above, that has already been done. I don't think it was a "granny" who wrote it though.

The schedule looks competitive as they continue to get ready for the OCC where competition improves. I can see them winning 2 or 3 games and as many as 5 might be possible. New offense would help.

They just joined a league. They got shot down pretty hard the last time. They will never apply again.

That league could become apart of the TVC. Add Gallia,Athens, Vinton County, and Meigs.
