I believe 2005 or 2006 was the last time New Lex beat Tri-Valley. I'm sure New Lex has a big lead in series record because Tri-Valley didn't beat them very often between 1966-2005.

Looking at scores, game highlights, etc, these two teams could very well be the best two teams in the MVL this season regardless of division (obviously Sheridan is right there also.)

New Lex held off a very strong bid by West M. Tri-Valley looked a little flat against Maysville after two tough close wins against Licking Heights and Jackson.

Quite possibly game of the year in the MVL.

TV may just be too big for NL.

New Lex last won in 2008. That year they beat Hartley, Ironton, Martins Ferry, and lost to Steubenville. They also had a regular season loss to Sheridan 7-0. Tri-Valley has gotten bigger and better since then.

This NL's best chance in a while and they will need to be turnover free. NL 20 TV 14.

New Lex had an undefeated 8th grade team last year. Tri-Valley went winless at the 7th grade level the past two years. Taking the best of three grades of players, Tri-Valley should still be pretty decent imo. I think the Tri-Valley and New Lex game will be a toss up the next few years.

I think looking at the games from the season so far Tri valley comes away with the win here . Close game but I think home field advantage and battle tested tri valley wins .

Really depends on whether Board will choose to stay at New Lexington by then.

I think Board is at NL for the long haul! He's got all the support in the world, just married the VB coach (famous alumni) and bought a house last year. All this doesn't mean he can't leave but it would have to be a pretty good gig to get him to go.....

Good to know! It would be great for NL if they can hold onto him. NL has been a low-ceiling program, possibly even a low-floor, for a while. If he’s satisfied with what he has then it’s great for him and NL!!

TV had a huge line in 08, Spiker who was recruited to WV was a 300 pounder and there were some other big guys. Consistently stayed in DII for 4-5 years around that time as well. They are not as big now as they were and haven't been able to run the ball at all until this past game against Maysville, and still struggled offensively.

I say you're right on with that score prediction.

Final

Tri-Valley 23
New Lex 12

New Lex dominated the first half. Tri-Valley's first half TV happened a minute into the game. Intercepted a tipped pass at the 25 on the first play of the game and ran it back to the 1. TV scored next play.

Halftime NL 12-7.

Second half TV defense was in control. Offense was able to score on two long passes and hit a FG with a minute to go and put the game away.

Tri-Valley, New Lex and Sheridan are the best 3 teams in the MVL. New Lex will win the small school division.
