Hopefully he’s not disciplined and unable to play next week. Can’t stand if when refs blow calls and adversely affect a teams success.

No ejection. The call was targeting though. I guess it was just treated like a normal personal foul

Targeting brings with it a severe penalty or punishment. Hope this doesn’t rear its head later. Thanks for the update.

Man Jackson was fast, crisp, fired up. Focused.

Wolford looks fast to the hole and quick footed…looks healthy! Powell and Landrum were everywhere on defense. Line was great. Jackson is primed and ready. Another WOW performance.

Oh…Winters threw for just 29 yards but that rifle to Butcher at the goal line was the hardest thrown ball I’ve ever seen in high school…and perfectly placed.

You are correct. Targeting in high school doesn’t work the same as it does in college. It’s merely a personal foul. There CAN be an ejection if, in the opinion of the officiating crew, it warrants an ejection - it has to be a hit with severe force to cause an ejection. Any personal foul, whether targeting or not, can result in an ejection. Also two unsportsmanlike conduct fouls on the same player, non-player or coach (these are non contact fouls only), do automatically result in an ejection. The player/nonplayer/coach has to sit out the rest of the game and the next game (including the next sport, if the team has no more football games). If fighting is involved, the suspension is for the next two games. The OHSAA will review film of the call and later could overturn the suspension.

First off, I think Jackson was a better team and would have proved it regardless. The Ironmen played a pretty clean game, maybe one bad exchange which they recovered and even gained positive yardage. A very few penalties that affected them that much. Granville on the other hand were their own worst enemy. Part of it I'm sure was just how physical that the Ironmen were playing. I don't know the exact stats, but I'm pretty sure that the Blue Aces had to have at least 3-5 fumbles, which in turn gave the Ironmen excellent field position, and in turn they took advantage and converted into points. I know the Ironmen had 2 or 3 interceptions which they also took advantage of. The Ironmen didn't need to pass, as both of their lines pretty much imposed their will on the Blue Aces. No doubt the Ironmen were the better team, but I would bet that Granville would have a hard time remembering a game in which they had that many turnovers.
