Irontons Ground Game

Post by BigBoneJerome »

Anyone know what’s going on with it? I thought they would have 3 1k backs this year. Carpenter is caring this team with his arm. They can’t be one dimensional much longer

Why is Wilson not getting touches? He’s a spark plug that the running game needs

Look at the haters coming out of the woodwork lol. Anyone that understands football understands that Irontons running game is strong right now. As is their passing game.

Much better team than in week 1 IMO

They have not needed it.

It’s there.
It’s potent.

I was frustrated with not seeing it as well.

When i saw them open with the WishBone -V- MinFord, fast, accurate, & successful, it sunk in & i understand why we see what we do.

Coach has developed the depth & skill slowly without bringing attention to it.

Those players are ready for more than 1-dimension & can go above and beyond what has been revealed.

Coach P is holding those cards close to his chest, but i now see what’s going on.

I could go into detail & list names, but since we are down to the Elite 8, I will hold off!!!

i clearly see whats waiting to happen.

Good thing they have the kid from lucasville he's the one that's packing the team on his back, that visit to the basketball game is paying off big time

OSU could use Carrico at running back, with all their injuries.

Other D1 squads are using players with that size, speed, & all around skill as all purpose, so the team as a whole is missing out on his lack of use, IMO.

It’s in his blood to excel in that scenario & with coach Washington gone that recruited him for a D Back specialist…..Reid is getting overlooked.

On special teans, hes running straight at that ball.

Portal perhaps, just like Mister Ohio in FB that year Corey Kiner that Reid was runner up to, now at UofC & seeing some playing time.

I seriously believe that Reid would excel offensively!!!

Expressing your opinion here can make people pretty upset but here goes. Our running game is dismal at best. How I'd loved to have seen a back like Carrico on this team. I'd gone ahead and made my reservations in Stark County already if we had one back who could crush through the line like he could.

I mentioned to someone I thought Carpenter is one of the best Qb's at ironton ever and they quickly offered up a couple names in comparison and my reply was, "they never had to be on such a one dimensional offense as this class." If I'm correct, I believe there has not been one Ironton RB net 100 yds rushing in a game this whole year? Surely there's a brute amongst all those boys that could soften up the defense?

Yes, Perkins is the real deal. Cincinnati made a wise choice with him

Keyes just had 100 yards last week on 8 Carries.

Keyes is our leading rusher with about 10 touches a game.

The style and scheme this year doesn’t require a back to get the ball 30 times a game . If Ironton handed it to one kid 30 times a game this year there would be 100 yd rusher every game.

Against a team the Tigers beat 48 - 7. So that was probably the first 100 yard game rushing? (Actually he had 123 yards) I'm sorry but that's the way I see it.

No other QB at Ironton had a player like the Lucasville kid to make them that good 😊

Perhaps I would have better expressed myself by saying that for once, our passing game far excels our ground game

need to stay with what got you to the dance and that is balance.
Teams have to prepare for passing and rushing with Ironton now.
The running game got them to the state 2 years in a row running the ball and you see what happened when they got there.
Now they have a passing game and the running game compliments it.
When they need to run they will.
No need to panic now

This team looks like they can run or pass when needed. Looks to me like the coach has wisely developed a solid passing attack because he knows he will need it to have a shot at winning a state title. I'm liking the balance.

It's Perkins Pinhead is being a punk is all Ironton would be winning without him like it or not.
Pinhead is just another fool showing no class like several others on here.
