2023 Schedule (with a recent change)

Aug. 18 - AT Jackson
Aug. 25 - AT Teays Valley
Sept. 1 - VS Sheridan
Sept. 8 - AT Warren
Sept. 15 - AT Chillicothe
Sept. 22 - VS Athens
Sept. 29 - VS Marietta
Oct. 6 - VS Minford
Oct. 13 - AT Fort Frye
Oct. 20 - VS Zanesville

A few notes:
Teays Valley will have a new head football coach in 2023.
First matchup with Marietta since 2010. They are a replacement for St. Charles who dropped Logan for Buckeye Valley.
Three games against Washington County schools (Marietta, Warren, FF)
Second ever game with Minford and first in Hocking County.

Athens will be off the schedule in 2024 - but will be back with a long term deal in 2025.

Logan will start OCC play in 2024. Jackson and Warren will be 2 of 3 non-league games. Week two will be Athens in 2024, so looking for a 1-year deal in 2024.

2024 Schedule:
Aug. 23 - VS Jackson
Aug. 30 - AT Nelsonville-York
Sept. 6 - VS Warren
Sept. 13 - VS Pickerington Central *
Sept. 20 - AT Newark *
Sept. 27 - At Reynoldsburg *
Oct. 4 - VS Lancaster *
Oct. 11 - AT Canal Winchester *
Oct. 18 - AT Groveport-Madison *
Oct. 25 - VS Teays Valley *

Is that six former SEOAL teams on the schedule? Just start it back up again.

The SEOAL could start back up with Marietta, Warren, Gallia, Athens and Logan. If FF feels they can keep competing in the Twin State, they could come into the SEOAL. Maybe PP could come back. I would think the SEOAL could make a comeback with these teams and the schools would have more numbers too. Nelsonville wouldn't do it but now days they could compete very well back in the SEOAL. Right now, Jackson is satisfied where they are plus would Marietta and Warren want to make that trip.

I never thought of Jackson as a terrible trip when I was a player. Maybe it’s because that’s all I was used to, but it never bothered our teams much. Portsmouth is the trip I dreaded more than any other.

Did some research and came up with some numbers:
2019-2022 Seasons for Logan and their opponents:
Past opponents:
39 TOTAL OPPONENTS
D1 opponents- 0
D2-8
D3- 17
D4-9
D5- 3
D6-2
D7-0
LOGAN'S RECORD- 13-26
OPPONENTS COMBINED RECORDS- 232-178 (56% WINNING %)
COVID YEAR THE RECORDS ARE ALL OVER THE PLACE BUT I DID MY BEST TO GET WHAT I COULD. IN 2021 LOGAN ONLY PLAYED 9 GAMES.

NEW OCC LEAGUE IN 2024 OPPONENTS SINCE 2019:
140-129 (52% WINNING %)
OF THE 7 FUTURE OPPONENTS, 5 ARE D1 AND 2 ARE D2
PICK CENTRAL- 46-8 WITH A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2019, LOST STATE TITLE IN 2020
NEWARK- 3-36
REYNOLDSBURG- 17-18
LANCASTER- 9-25
CANAL (D2)- 22-14
GROVEPORT- 20-15
TEAYS VALLEY (D2)- 23-13

Numbers are numbers. Some favorable and some unfavorable. Ask yourself this - are the systems used now at Logan ( offense, defense) suitable for the talent on hand ? Could different systems be more suitable for the current talent ? If the answer is yes, then you have a coach forcing players to play in his system to their detriment ( losing). If the answer is no then, the competition played is simply greater than your own. The answer , I believe, lies somewhere in between. OCC will be a load, but many games, not all, Logan should be competitive if right systems for our talent are used. Days of 10-0 are over. Win 6 or 7 and make a splash in the playoffs as a D-II playing D-I and some IIs. My bet is a new coach will find more success than one who uses a system that doesn’t utilize talent on hand.

Just read on another thread that the Logan vs. Nelsonville-York series has renewed for four years in ‘24, ‘25, ‘26 and ‘27. They will play in Week 2 like they used to.

it will be the first time NY has ever played an OCC school unless you grandfather in all the previous games vs. Logan before they joined.

I had heard that was coming - but didn't know it would be that long of a deal.

Man I'd love to go back to Jim Rockwell Stadium for games. One of the coolest HS stadiums in SE Ohio.

In a perfect world I'd love to play Jackson, Athens, and rotate the third non-league game between old rivals like N-Y, New Lex, Marietta, Warren, Gallipolis, Chillicothe, and Zanesville.
