Definitely give the edge to Ironton, especially with home field. However, both teams breaking in new QBs and other skilled spots. See this game being relatively low scoring; Burg D will be stout but starting a sophomore QB.

Last year 12-3.
This year, 17-10.

I’m just hoping he’s can be a solid qb this time around, I recall when burg trotted out mathews at qb for that week 1 game at Ironton and they had their way with takeaways

This fella is a QB. Whether he’s ready? To be determined.

Ironton at home has the advantage with the new transfers. Helps with their depth. But burg I think is ahead of the curve this time around than last year.

Yes. Burg got a wr from Portsmouth. Looks like he’s going to be on roster. I’m assuming he’s eligible.

Ironton got 3 I believe this year.

I think Ironton got 3. Plus Ironton has one that will
Play that had to sit out last year due to being ineligible.

Waverly got 1 and burg. All should benefit from the

Some of the best programs in the area, surprised jackson hasn’t gotten any recently

Typically the transfer you see that hits Jackson is one that is going to be playing QB if you look at the last couple guys who have started there. They do a great job of building the program from within from Pee Wee all the way up and can be a little tougher to crack as an outsider. I mean here we are seeing guys keep track of the number of transfers as it pertains to a game, I get it especially when Ironton has seemingly brought in 5-6 each of the last few years plus they were after a WR from the area but he said no. It is what it is in this day and age and I for one don't really have a problem with it as everyone has the ability to land transfers.

Back to the game even though we haven't seen any scrimmages seems a bit early to jump to scores but I'll give my 2 scents for whatever that's worth at this point. Both teams breaking in new QBs but there's a major difference in that Burg is rolling with a sophomore with no varsity experience and Ironton is trotting out a senior who's had plenty of experience at the varsity level. I do think as a whole Burg is probably more improved at least on paper compared to Ironton, tough to replace all the talent Ironton lost and say we'll be right back to form. Game is at Ironton and I look for some early season struggles from the QB play of Burg, I'll go with Ironton 17-7.

Yes, Ironton's expected QB1 has started before ,but never at Ironton and not in this system..
I expect Ironton's offense to be fine, it's the Defense I'm concerned about and want to see, how they fill holes left by really good players, especially the backers..

Ironton 24- Burg-14

This game should be called The BRB-Bragging Rights Bowl.

By far the best and largest measuring stick game in week 1 in the SE Region. Ironton owns a 20-14 all time record vs Wheelersburg. However, Wheelersburg has the longest winning streak in the series at 8 consecutive. Talk about a great week 1 game.

Ironton By 14
No one in the region stops the Patterson kid… Snuck into their practice last night watching him roll every kid Ironton put in front of him. Aiden Layne on the other side will be a force also.
Burg will have no chance throwing the ball and Ironton is always tough to run against.

Another underrated skill is Thacker’s feet, He was moving!!

Excited for this one!! Good luck to both teams!!
