Both teams enter at 2-0. JG defeated Circleville 28-0 and Cambridge 42-14 and NL defeated Fairfield Union 28-14 and Maysville 33-10. Big game for playoff points as both teams should win 6+ games this year. Thoughts?

Week 1 vs Circleville JG defense was dominant. Allowed only 85 yards of offense and had 5 interceptions. Offensively SR QB Winland was 19-31 for 133 yards with 3 interceptions and added a TD run. JR RB Gilcher carried 20 times for 99 yards with 2 TD’s.

Week 2 vs Cambridge’s passing attack JG defense was bend but don’t break allowing 330 yards but only 14 points. JG offense was dominant with 512 yards (376 rushing). SR QB Winland was 14-16 for 136 yards with 1 TD, 0 Interceptions, and completions to 8 different receivers. JR RB Gilcher carried 25 times for 141 yards with 2 TD’s, SO RB Metzger carried 6 times for 92 yards with 2 TD’s, and JR RB Rock carried 9 times for 51 yards.

JG offense is very balanced with weapons. They have 3 solid running backs, along with a QB who can run, and have multiple receivers. This JG team has some of the most depth of recent teams as few starters play both ways and many guys rotate to stay fresh.

I thought JG did nice with their pass last week of just taking what the defense would give them and not forcing anything. The o-line play was spot on and I would think that they would continue with the same plan this week. Defensively I doubt that the drop everyone into coverage again this week giving the fact that New Lex will run the ball. This one might come down to who wins controlling the clock and who turns it over the least. Should be a good one

John Glenn 14
New Lexington 13
Final

Great Game!
NL threw 5 Ints and had a chance to win. Extremely solid team with lots of speed.
JG was never able to establish run game and looked afraid to throw the ball but held on with huge defensive stands and blocked extra point.

JG fumbled at midfield with 50 seconds to go and NL drove down inside the 30 before 3 pass breakups ended it.
