Great thinking that sounds wonderful.
I’d move Rv down to the Hocking, add Oak Hill and Gallia and call it a day.
Not sure you guys have seen the state of Oak Hill football right now but this doesn't improve their situation at all if anything probably makes it worse based on how many league games they'd have. Oak Hill is down to DVI now and fielding 24 players or so, so while they're busy canceling games to get away from the beatings in the SOC you've got VC, Wellston is building, Athens, Gallia, NY all going to do the same thing they're trying to get away from with the only realistic games being Meigs and Alexander.

Ironton is independent in football point blank, I have no idea why anyone is even discussing them when it comes to this divisional thing and especially saying OVC/SOC. I do think the 2 need to merge, makeup 3 divisions even things out and help to create a much more competitive balance within each group. Long term hopefully it would help all the teams and better prepare them come playoffs. At the same time I think both the SOC and OVC powers to be are so narrow minded and short sighted that neither are willing to step outside their comfort zone to make things better. Same with the SVC they're so set in their ways I don't even think they realize how they're wasting the league, only thinking about how much easier scheduling is. Meanwhile if they went out and searched for say 2 more teams they can have 2 divisions of 5 and play some cross divisional games and still only need to find 3 maybe 4 teams from outside that SVC boundary.
Very well stated. It would be nice if the OVC/SOC could come together and create a balanced league. Travel wise it makes sense. School sizes also. It could always be adjusted from time to time. And there could be cross division games to help fill out the gaps. I guess we can all wish it would happen.

None of these programs are of any value to Ironton
Exactly. Ironton is at a completely different level of football than all of these programs the highest of top notch real deal.
It's Ironton then everybody else in SEO. Ironton being independent is best. Seo devalues the strength of schedule.
What would an Ironton independent schedule look like?

I only add Fairland and GA because I think Ironton will continue playing both. Value is debatable. Fairland maybe. Gallia not really any value. Would.like to see Ironton replace Gallia week with Bishop Hartley or maybe a NE team.

^^^This would probably lead Ironton to be close to .500. Mentioning IMG is pretty far-fetched because IMG has legit D1 athletes across the board they go there for that specifically. Good chance you'd see a running clock put on Ironton in a game like that, now come playoff time a schedule like you have would have Ironton prepared for a deep run like no other time and maybe if they got to the state championship game they wouldn't get dominated along the LOS like years past. It's for sure a VERY loaded schedule for sure, not sure why you have Portsmouth on there though seems like a team that doesn't need to be on there, I also think if you're looking to get better prepared along the LOS on both sides of the ball Clinton Massie would be a team they should seek out or 2-3 MAC schools would fill this void also. Maria Stein Local would be a awesome team to show how things are done along the LOS 42 points given up in there last 7 games, gave up 26 in week 1 but still won to a 6-2 DIII Wapakoneta team.

IMG?? LOL!

Only problem with that schedule is that there are no pushovers. Need a few games that don’t go four quarters, otherwise injuries will start piling up.

Although it hasn’t been competitive in quite some time, the rivalry with Portsmouth is too historic not to play. Still brings a big gate, the week leading up to the game is fun. Portsmouth last beat Ironton in football I believe in 2017. I don’t see Ironton canceling the series, so if it were to get canceled I’d think that would come from Portsmouth, and I don’t see that anytime in the near future.

Wheelersburg

Fairland
Cabell Midland
Raceland
Johnson Central
Columbus Desales
Columbus Bishop Hartly
Gallia Academy
Portsmouth

Be a good challenging schedule and not to bad on distance who knows but it would be challenging but not over board

You’d never get ColdH2o or Valley View due to their conference that late in the year. Ironton needs to call up Stuebenville and possibly could pick up another WV team. I know Martinsburg would travel to Ironton, hell they just played there week 1

Martinsburg would be to much for Ironton and Ashland refuses to play us.
Raceland is coming back on the schedule good gate and competition there.
and Huntington said Ironton was to small to play and it was a lose lose situation so that will never happen.
I could see Harvest Prep being on the Schedule in the future

Both would be OK. Martinsburg or Parkersburg maybe. Or could add Johnson Central or even a Akron st Vincent st marys.

I don't see much value in Raceland tbh

That's just Russell all over again.

Maybe Johnson Central or Ashland but Raceland? Ehh.
