1 seed Ironton traveling 1hr42min. While HP traveling 56min. Much better options were available for where this game could've been played.

Maybe they're giving teams that commit less penalties a shorter drive

We will end up in Barrow, Alaska if we win.

How does the game at Athens make sense?

Athens:
#4 Canel Winchester: 57 min, 57 mi
#1 Ironton: 1hr 43 min, 86 mi

Chillicothe:
#4 Canel Winchester: 55 min, 41 mi
#1 Ironton: 1hr 13 min, 71 mi

Waverly:
#4 Canel Winchester: 1hr 6 min, 55 mi
#1 Ironton: 53 min, 54 mi

Jackson:
#4 Canel Winchester: 1hr 19 min, 68 mi
#1 Ironton: 1hr, 54 mi

Not sure, but possibly not. One has to wonder if the lack of couth by a handful of fans at past playoff game venues was a contributing factor in not getting a closer location for this game. I attended the Ironton/West and Ironton/HP games last year, and the same shirtless clown ( that appeared to be intoxicated ) was F-Bombing, and screaming obscenities throughout both games with small children all around him. I'm sure any Ironton fans in attendance know who I'm referring to. Surprisingly nobody removed him and his group from the facilities.

Ironton needs to get prep in third and long. Ironton isn’t a running team but they need to try to establish it. This preps defense is pretty good. They are better than they were last year. They have the athletes to keep terry in check, so I think someone else is going to have to take the workload.

This seems unlikely. Is that person going to drive 60 minutes but not 90?

The most likely explanation is OHSAA indifference to the SE part of the state. They probably don’t look or care. Just put it down there somewhere and those yokels will be happy.

Yeah they might have athletes to stop Terry but will they do it? Perkins had a field day against them last year

They did the annual playoff team picture 2 weeks ago and from the picture I counted 59 kids. Ironton is lead in numbers by the Junior class with roughly 25 kids
Do they dress Freshmen for Home Playoff Games? Because there wasn’t close to that number on the sidelines last night. Heath had way more kids than Ironton
If freshmen make the playoff bench list, they get counted for competitive balance purposes. Otherwise, a freshman would have to play in a varsity game to count.
Yeah, that’s not how competitive balance works. If they are on the team, they count.

Yeah, it is. https://www.ohsaa.org/Portals/0/SchoolR ... tering.pdf

See the football subsection. It’s highlighted for you. No need to apologize.

But is it possible that Waverly, Jackson, etc... did not want the game after witnessing that behavior at their facilities last year ?

If Ironton plays with the same scheme and energy they played with during the first half of the Heath game they will be moving on to the Regional championship. That was the first time I’ve seen Ironton dominate running the ball and passing since week 4 or 5. Penalties still need to be addressed but I see Ironton winning 28-18

Ironton will come out and play fundamental football. They usually play great after a sloppy game. Prep has got man handled the last couple times by Ironton and that leads to frustration penalties for Prep. I like Ironton in this one. Prep will self destruct if Ironton gets up by a few scores

I've never seen a game where discipline will matter for both teams more than this one. I've seen both teams in person, I'm not sure how you can go into this game assuming Ironton is the favorite. That week 10 home vs PHS was glaring to me, PHS made huge strides from Week 1, but they should not have been within 30 points of Ironton, on paper. The coaching performances put out when Ironton makes it deep into the playoffs have been their Achilles heel. This is technically the Regional semis, but would/could/should be the Regional Finals in most years, 2 very good teams. For Ironton to win this game, they'll need Shaun Terry get loose for multiple touchdowns in the return game as well the run game, and HP unravel with penalties.

I just don't see Ironton's bad play calling, turnovers, and penalties all of the sudden ceasing to exist this week. This feels like it ends up similar to the Cabell Midland game for the Tigers.

I'll go 34-21 HP
