If that’s the case region 19 will never make it back to the state title game…how unfortunate.
True. We need teams representing the region that can actually win the title. Prep has zero and IHS last won a title when California voted Republican!
So since Wheelersburg has only managed to escape their region around 3 times in the last 30 years Ironton & Prep are the only hope. Got it. 💯 #softballschool
And that’s why the region hasn’t won a title. Burg is failing at their duties by allowing HP and IHS to represent region 19. These programs aren’t winning the state even with the talent they have.

Burgs program has seemed to take a step or two back in recent years. Given burgs larger enrollment and superior coaching, culture, what do attribute the regression to? Is it ultimately lack of talent on the field or is it coaching or is football just becoming less interesting at burg? Is burg becoming more of a soccer and softball dominant and just less football? That would be a culture shift that would kinda match up with the burg sorta suburban demographic yes?

Burg’s program tends to go in waves, always has. But Burg is also a consistent winner; again, has been that way for over 50 years.

As for other interests, that has always been the case as well. Baseball is very popular at Burg with a number of really good athletes over the year focusing just on that.

With regards to coaching, the D is solid. O has been my biggest concern. I expect to see a big improvement on that side of the ball this year, not necessarily in game one against Ironton but much better as the year goes on given having a more experienced dual option QB. If the O struggles this year, Woodward will need to make changes.
