FAC needs to disband
What a horrible league. The size disparities are a joke. This isn’t the old days of SCOL where every school was close in size. I feel for some of the schools. Does anyone know when the contract is up? I hope the done resign.
Re: FAC needs to disband
I thought when the league formed in 2017 it was on a 4 year contract? Must’ve been extended.
I do feel for some of these schools, and I haven’t exactly been the biggest supporter of this league. But as of right now everyone is stuck, except maybe Hillsboro, they could join the SBAAC and fit right in, but I doubt they leave behind the Fayette County Teams and McClain. Personally I would love to eventually see a 2 division SCOL reunion.
SCOL East:
Circleville
Chillicothe
Jackson
Logan Elm
Miami Trace
Washington CH
SCOL West:
Clinton-Massie
Greenfield McClain
Jamestown Greeneview
Hillsboro
Western Brown
Wilmington

When you are winning in one sport more than the rest in SEO or maybe in other areas a lot of school don't want to be in a conference with you. With football being the top sport, I feel it hurts Jackson. SEO needs a conference where all the bigger boys play.
Starting a new conference without worrying about travel time.

That is where I wasn't going but saying that you will have to agree that the old SEOAL was largely made up of the bigger schools.Dundas wrote: Sat May 31, 2025 10:51 amBasically the SEOAL?noreply66 wrote: Sat May 31, 2025 10:34 am When you are winning in one sport more than the rest in SEO or maybe in other areas a lot of school don't want to be in a conference with you. It must be the communities who want this conference gone. I don't really blame them.. but this is what their administrators chose for them.

Re-enrollment discrepancy
Unfortunately, this is going to be a fact of athletics in rural Ohio. Pickin's are pretty lean for average and larger schools in SEO in particular.
Current OHSAA numbers for boys grades 10-12
- Chillicothe - 341
- Miami Trace - 293
- Jackson - 274
- Hillsboro - 270
- Washington - 211
- McClain - 209
There's not a vast difference in numbers with the exception of Chillicothe - but CHS has been pretty much in middle of athletic results pack. Remember that the enrollment bands are pretty narrow in the D3/4/5 groups due to the large number of schools in the combined range.
At the end of the day, I have to think that all else being equal, your athletic teams should be able to handle enrollment differences in this range over time.

Re: FAC needs to disband
I don't understand the hate. Jackson wins in football most of the time. BUT every other school wins something every year it seems. This year Hillsboro girls won softball, McClain girls won basketball, Miami Trace won boy basketball, Chillicothe wins soccer almost every year and has always been very strong in track, and WCH won baseball in 2023 plus has a strong track team most years. It seems competitive and balanced.
Re: FAC needs to disband
I honestly understand why there's a lot of hate from these communities and schools on the FAC. Lets not forget why the FAC exists in the first place... the Fayette and Highland county schools wanted to escape Clinton-Massie football dominance and be in a better situation to compete on a regular basis, and they thought the FAC could provide that.. well fast forward 8 years and Jackson is kicking their teeth in year in and year out just as bad, if not worse than Clinton-Massie, and to add insult to injury for them, its a 1 hour+ bus drive instead of the quicker 30-40 minute trip to Clarksville.Tracker wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 2:46 pm I don't understand the hate. I understand that a league is much more than football, and the FAC has been a nice league in other sports. But Jackson being so dominant in football is essentially just recreating the same problem that the SCOL had with Clinton-Massie. I mean its not Jacksons fault for being good at football, I don't blame them and I don't think anyone else does either, they have a fantastic program, and they deserve to have a home for their athletics. But football will always reign supreme, and I wont be surprised if we continue to hear rumors and speculation.

Massie in football and Wilmington in basketball is why the SCOL disbanded. Teams should’ve looked ahead at Wilmington post Cumberland era…because they’ve been average since then or even below that. Massie football has continued to be Massie football. I can’t imagine the FAC going anywhere. Shoutout Hillsboro’s softball team competing for the softball state title tomorrow - good luck.fball43 wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 9:32 amI honestly understand why there's a lot of hate from these communities and schools on the FAC. Yep. Wilmington basketball would be average at best in the FAC these days. Massie football is still great tho, but I think they will be slowing down in the near future. I know Jackson to Clinton County is in an insane trip, but if you just would’ve replaced East Clinton with Jackson you would’ve had a great 8 team league in the SCOL, but no if ands or buts. It is what it is.BallDontLie wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:29 pmMassie in football and Wilmington in basketball is why the SCOL disbanded. I also think the FAC isn’t going anywhere. Everyone besides maybe Hillsboro has no other options. They are all stuck. The SVC will not be taking them, and an SCOL reunion, while sounding nice is also not happening. The FAC best bet is to try and poach Circleville and Logan Elm. That would round the league out nicely at 8 teams.
Also shout out to Western Browns softball team! They play in the state semis tonight in Akron!! Go Broncos and Go Indians!

You know where he was for a long time before McClain? Where he lived? Was his former high school basketball coach a big wig at Court House?
