Congratulations Alex Rodriguez!

Yesterday, Alex Rodriguez became the oldest pro baseball player to reach 50 clean home runs. Congratulations A-Rod!

Along with Griffey and Bonds, the 3 biggest prima donnas in the history of the sport. There are reasons why guys like this seldom ever win the rings. Their clubs have a lot to overcome with guys like this that affect their day to day activities. Plus they seldom ever produce in win the ring time, although Alex finally did last fall. Favre is this kind of player in the NFL.Lebron possibly in the NBA although he has time to change it. But I would be surprised.

Baseball is a legacy sport. One of the things that endeared it to diehard fans was the ability to compare players to players through statistics. Steroids threw a wrench in those figures and traditionalists still don't know how to come to terms with it. One of their favorite retorts is to hold it against players who are either accused or suspected of juice use by denying them Hall of Fame acceptance. Football would never compare Red Grange against Emmitt Smith yet baseball insists on trying to infer this type of "pure" comparison. Grow up! Different eras mean different ethos. This is one of the reasons why baseball is now the third (or fourth) most popular sport in America. A-Rod is an imposter in Baseball lore as is Barry Bonds but who cares. The NFL Hall of Fame Game (meaningless) will outdraw TV ratings over all baseball games this weekend.

Well the NBA has been a farce for years, Major League Baseball has shot itself in the foot too many times to count, and the king of kings NFL has even the great Steelers Teams now being questioned. To many it doesn't matter how you get there. As P.T. Barnum said there is a sucker born everyday.
