ZzzzzZzzzzZzzzzzZzzzzzZzzzzZzzzzz.......

That's me sleeping in case you didn't know. ;-)

Sorry but MLB is a joke anymore. It's basically the YRL (Yankee-RedSox League) and the other teams are just farm teams for the Yankees and Red Sox. Once again it is a joke and it will continue to be until they bring in a salary cap.

Minor league baseball is almost here.

I like it better than the Yankees/Red sox league.

i am a red sox fan. and have been way before the world series in '04 and before the salary cap really got out of control... but i as well would like to see a salary cap put into place because its really getting out of hand. and i am sooo hoping the sox dont land santana too..then they'll be as bad as the yankees!

I agree that small market teams have problems keeping up with the big boys so to speak, but it can be done. The brewers, Marlins are small market clubs and they have had or are currently having good teams. Cleveland doesn't spend all that much either and look how good they are.
I think a lot of it has to do with Managment and how you spend your money. I do think as steriods become less and less part of the game, the feild will be levaled between pitchers and hitters so that will bring down pitching saleries a little. The expansion hurt to because when they added florida, colorado, and Tampa that spread out the available players making it harder to find quality pitching. Not many teams have trouble finding sluggers. Its finding good pitching that seperates the big and small market teams. :-D :-D :-D :-D

I agree to an extent. We've all seen the Yankees have, 'the best team money can buy'...and time and time again they've failed(at least in the last 5 years). I agree that its very, very possible for the smaller market teams to compete, but when you have a team out there spending 200million plus, its like your moving in cirlcles. You can't really get on the Red Sox too bad, because you have the Angels, ChiSox & Mets moving closer and closer to the BoSox. If the Mets get Santana--with his salary, they will be in the Red Sox's back yard when it comes to salary. But if the Bosox get him, they will be moving ever closer to, 'the evil empire'.

Once again, coming from a somewhat biased Red Sox fan...but I agree a cap needs to be put into place. Below is every teams salary as of 2007. So far, the NY Yankees have increased their cap to over 200 million. WOW! Indians are 23rd and they ALMOST beat the Red Sox in the ALCS AND they tied Boston for the best record in Baseball.

1. NY Yankees 195,229,045
2. Boston 143,123,714
3. NY Mets 116,115,819
4. Chicago Sox 109,290,167
5. LA Angels 109,251,333
6. LA Dodgers 108,704,524
7. Seattle 106,516,833
8. Chicago Cubs 99,936,999
9. Detroit 95,180,369
10. Baltimore 95,107,808
11. San Francisco 90,469,056
12. St. Louis 90,286,823
13. Atlanta 89,492,685
14. Philadelphia 89,368,213
15. Houston 87,759,500
16. Oakland 79,938,369
17. Toronto 79,925,600
18. Milwaukee 71,986,500
19. Minnesota 71,439,500
20. Cincinnati 69,654,980
21. Texas 68,818,675
22. Kansas City 67,366,500
23. Cleveland 61,289,667
24. San Diego 58,235,567
25. Colorado 54,424,000
26. Arizona 52,067,546
27. Pittsburgh 38,604,500
28. Washington 37,347,500
29. Florida 30,507,000

I would also like to point out that Alex Rodriguez made more than the Rays used for their whole team...and Jason Giambi was a half a million short. Both play for the yankees--and AROD is making more next year.

1. Alex Rodriguez 27,708,525
2. Jason Giambi 23,428,571

30. Tampa Bay 24,124,200

Can you say rediculous?

I undersand that The more you spend the more you get. Look at some of the teams outside the top ten who are pretty good. The yankees world series train is running dry. The red socks are now and foer the next few years the best team in baseball, but I think that the feild will leval out so to speak within 5 to 7 years. Don't get me wrong bsaball needs a salery cap and Bud Selig needs a long vacation. Both of those 2 things will not happen though. :-D

And after he's out, maybe baseballs hit king will have a shot at making the hall of fame.
