Kucherov left late in the second and will not return. Possible concussion protocol??? He will be missed big time for Tampa.

Paquette takes McAvoy out with a check into the boards. Close call...no penalty. McAvoy actually turned into the check. He went straight to dressing room. Still 1 apiece with under 12 minutes left.

Boston has had the better of play so far....

And we are going to Oooooovertime. 60 minutes were not enough. Shots on goal after regulation...Boston 35 Tampa 21.

Vasilevskiy and Halak have played well in net. Lightning still lacking in puck management imho...especially when attempting to get the puck out of their zone. Gotta take quick shots....less extra passing.

We shall see what happens.....

Let's play another OT....

Boston came out hot and continued throughout the first OT. The Lightning didn't get their first shot on goal until their power play in the second half of the period. Tampa Bay was outshot 11-5 in the period.

On to overtime period 2....

The Lightning improve to 4-0 in overtime games this playoff season as they beat Boston 3-2 in 2OT. They await either Philadelphia or the Islanders of New York.

Victor Hedman blasts one past Halak with 5:40 left to send the Bruins home.

This was a game that Tampa just found a way to win it. I'll give more info in the AM......

Vasilevskiy had 45 saves for the Lightning. Think I'll give my own 3 stars of the series...

3rd Star..Halak for Boston. Came in after Rask left to take care of a family emergency. He did all he could to keep Boston alive

2nd Star..Palat for Tamp. Goals in the last 4 games of the series (5 total). Boston concentrated on Kucherov and Point and he made them pay.

1st Star.. Vasilevskiy. He is the rock in net for the Lightning. Time and time again, he made one outstanding save after another.

Tampa gets a couple of days to relax and regroup. Get Kuch back...

Andre Burakovsky had 2 goals and an assist for the Avalanche and Michael Hutchinson made 31 saves as Colorado wins 6-3. They live another gameday which will be Wednesday. Khubodin for Dallas stopped 20 of 22 shots he faced.

The Tampa Bay Lighting are one step closer to a return to the Stanley Cup Final. With their 4-1 win over the New York Islanders on Sunday afternoon, the Lighting now have a commanding 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, and will have a chance to advance on Tuesday night.

For the first time in two decades, The Dallas Stars are headed to the Stanley Cup Finals. Denis Gurianov was the overtime hero, scoring three minutes and 36 seconds into the first overtime period, as the Stars eliminated the top-seeded Vegas Golden Knights in five games. Gurianov one-timed a feed from John Klingberg from inside the faceoff circle with the man advantage for the series winner, his ninth goal of the postseason.

Jordan Eberle scored on a two-on-one break 12:30 into the 2nd overtime, and the New York Islanders avoided elimination with a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lighting in game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals on Tuesday night. By winning game 5, the Islanders cut the Lighting series lead down to 3-2. Game 6 will be on Thursday night.

I'm back after a mini vacation...good to see Point back in the lineup for the Lightning. However....Toews gets the Islanders on the board first with a nifty wraparound past Vasilevskiy at 4:15. Hedman answers for Tampa at 6:38 on rebound. 1-1 after one period. Shots on goal...Tampa 17 New York 6. Tampa also missed the net at least 7 times by my count.

Tampa Bay still has some difficulty getting the puck out their D zone. My opinion....getting too cute-trying a quick pass up the middle. Only problem is the Islanders realize that play. Just get back to the basics.

Onward to period 2....

Still 1 all after 40 minutes...

Tampa failed to score on back to back power plays. New York had the better of play in the second half of period 2..in my opinion.

Shots after 2...Tampa Bay 27 Islanders 12

Varlamov is seeing everything and his D are blocking shots. Tampa has to just keep on shooting on net and crash for a rebound. Also Vasilevskiy is covering his net very well, making up for mistakes the Lightning D has made.

Here we go....to the third period...
