From Scotiabank Arena in Toronto...

A goal by Victor Hedman with 1:30 left in the second period proved to be the game winner as Tampa Bay held off Columbus for a hard fought 3-2 win. The Lightning rake a 2-1 series lead.

Both Korpisalo for the Blue Jackets and Vasilevskiy for Tampa played well in the crease. Korpisalo stopped 31 of 34 shots while Vasilevskiy stopped 15 of 17.

Out west at the Roger's Centre in Edmonton...

Vegas has a 2-0 lead over Chicago heading into the final period. The Golden Knights are trying to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series.

Vegas held on and beat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

Anders Lee scored in the first period and the NY Islanders have a 1-0 lead after the first period against the Washington Capitals. NYI leads series 2-0. Nicklas Backstrom remains in concussion protocol for the Caps.

Mathew Barsal scores at 4:38 of OT to give the Islanders a 2-1 win and a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Washington Capitals.

The Islanders are just playing a more physical game than the Caps. FYI...the Islanders goalie was the backup for Washington...Symeon Varlarmov.

From Edmonton...

Joe Pavelski had a hat trick and John Klingberg scored tje GW goal 3:55 into OT as Dallas beats Vancouver 5-4 to tie series at 2 games apiece. Cam Talbot stopped 57 Dallas shots and Khudobin of the Stars stopped 36 Canuck shots.
Pavelski's third goal came with 12.2 seconds remaining in regulation. Early in the the third, Reider of Vancouver scored a shorthanded goal-his third of the series, tying an NHL record.

A very exciting game!!

After the opening period...Chicago is leading Vegas 2-1. A Vegas win and they advance.

Edmonton west bubble...

Corey Crawford stopped 48 Golden Knight shots and goals by Caggula, DeBrincat, and Highmore gave Chicago another game as they beat Vegas 3-1. Vegas still holds a 3-1 series lead

Toronto east bubble...

A first period goal by Jakub Voracek was all the Flyers would need. Carter Hart stopped all 23 shots by the Habs as Philly gets a 1-0 win. They lead the series 2-1

Late game from Edmonton...

Vancouver and St. Louis were scoreless towards the end of the first period. The Canucks are up 2-0 on the defending Cup champs Blues.

Brayden Schenn's goal 15:06 in OT lifts the defending champs to a 3-2 win over Vancouver. Jake Allen replaced Jordan Binnington in the net for St. Louis and made 39 saves. Vancouver still leads the series 2-1

Toronto...

Tampa Bay got two early goals in second period and held on to for 2-1 win over Columbus to take a commanding 3 games to 1 series lead.

The Blue Jackets came out fast to start the game, with Bjorkstrand scoring just two minutes in. However, the goal was disallowed due an offsides infraction by Textier. The Lightning lost every faceoff in the period and were on their heels....no puck management at all.

Barclay Goodrow changed that-scoring just 16 seconds into the second period. His linemate, Yanni Gourde scored a couple of minutes later to make it 2-0 Lightning. Cam Atkinson scored at the 5:48 mark to cut the lead in half. But that's was all of the scoring in the game. Vasilevskiy stopped 28 Blue Jacket shots while Korpisalo stopped 20 Tampa shots.

Colorado opened up a fresh can and destroyed the Arizona Coyotes 7-1. They now have a 3-1 series lead.

Nazem Kadri led the way for the Avalanche with 2 goals and an assist.

Boston scored 4 unanswered goals in the third period to defeat Carolina 4-3 to go up 3 games to 1.

Jake DeBrusk had 2 goals and an assist to lead the way for the Bruins.

At the Roger's Centre...

St. Louis finally played as they did last playoff season-hard forechecking and puck movement on offense as they beat Vancouver 3-1 to tie their series at 2.

Ryan O'Reilly scored twice for the Blues and Jake Allen made 22 saves. JT Miller scored 50 seconds into the second period to cut lead to 1 but O'Reilly's second goal later in the period give St. Louis a two goal advantage again for the final score.

And of course the Caps would answer back. They got goals from Kuznetsov and Ovechkin 1:54 apart to tie things up at 2 after 2 periods. The announcers for Washington said this was the best played period for the Caps in the series...and I agree. They looked determined and forced the Islanders into several mistakes.

The Caps were just the better team in final two periods. New York leads the series 3 games to 1. Only 4 teams have come back from 3-0 deficit in playoff history.
