The Cleveland Browns are healing up. Ravaged by injuries during training camp, the team welcomed back starting linebacker Mack Wilson and starting cornerback Greedy Williams on Monday, as the Browns began getting ready for this weeks game against the Washington Football Team. Also, nickel back Kevin Johnson was back on the field for the first time since he suffered a lacerated liver during an August practice and had to be hospitalized.

The Cleveland Browns have signed Kicker Matthew McCrane and Defensive End Jalen Jelks to their practice squad. To make room on their 16-man practice squad, the Browns released DT Tanzel Smart from the practice squad. McCrane (5'10", 165 lb.) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas State, signing with Arizona in 2018. Jelks (6'5", 250lb.) is out of Oregon and was a seventh round pick in 2019 by the Dallas Cowboys.

Not even Odell Beckham Jr believes that he can put up the kind of numbers in Cleveland, that made him a star with the New York Giants. He said that for him, one of my biggest growths has come in acceptance in a sense, and for me knowing it's probably not going to be that kind of a season with huge numbers. I always say my goal is always going to be my goal, and I don't feel like I'm ever going to fall short of it. Like I said, learning and acceptance, so you set new goals. Well two games into the season, Odell is saying all the right things, I hope later in the season he is still talking the same way.

The Washington Football Team at the Cleveland Browns will mark the first NFL regular season game in which a female coach will be on both sidelines, while a female officiates the game, according to Sam Rapoport, the leagues senior director of diversity and inclusion. Both coaches, Cleveland's Callie Brownson and Washington's Jennifer King, got their first full-time coaching experience at Dartmouth under coach Buddy Teevens. Brownson, is the chief of staff for Browns coach Kevin Stefanski, while King is a full time coaching intern under coach Ron Rivera. The female official is Sarah Thomas, the first in NFL history, hired in 2015.

The Cleveland Browns have announced that they have promoted cornerback A.J. Green to the active roster from the practice squad. Green is a rookie out of Oklahoma State. He signed as an undrafted free agent and spent the first two weeks of the season on the Browns practice squad. He will automatically revert back to the practice squad on Monday.

The Cleveland Browns have waived reserve linebacker Montrel Meander. The Browns have yet to make an official announcement, but Meander no longer appears on the teams website of active players. He could return to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed in the waiver process. No corollary move has been announced by the team. Meander's departure and the Monday move to place WR/KR JoJo Natson on injured reserve leaves the Browns with two open roster spots.

The Cleveland Browns filled one of their two open spots on the 53 man roster by signing safety Jovante Moffatt from their own practice squad. Moffatt is an undrafted rookie from Middle Tennessee State. He signed with the Browns shortly after the draft, and has been on the Cleveland practice squad since the season began. The 5'11", 213lb fills the spot previously held by Montrel Meander who was waived on Monday.

The Cleveland Browns have had a visit with free agent wide receiver Ryan Switzer. The Dallas Cowboys drafted Switzer out of University of North Carolina in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft. Switzer is best known for his two seasons, 2018-2019, with the Pittsburgh Steelers in which he caught 44 passes, as well as serving as their primary return specialist. He is a quicker-than-fast slot receiver, who could fill in the JoJo Natson roll as an offensive weapon and return man. Natson was placed on I R. with a knee injury this week.

This week the Cleveland Browns kept three of the same players protected on their practice squad from a week ago. Quarterback Garrett Gilbert, Placekicker Matt McCrane and Offensive Tackle Greg Senat are joined by Defensive Tackle Joey Ivie, who gets the nod this week.

One of the questions hanging over the Cleveland Browns entering the season was how rookie head coach Kevin Stefanski would handle the talented RB duo of Nick Chubb and Kareen Hunt. Through three games, the early answer is very well. Chubb and Hunt have each rushed for over 200 yards total in the first three games. They are the only team to have two players over 150 yards. Chubb currently ranks fourth in the NFL with 292 yards while Hunt is 13th with 204.

The last day of September provided an opportunity for seven current NFL free agents to show what they've got for the Cleveland Browns. The team held a formal tryout for the seven players on Wednesday. The seven free agents invited to the audition were: (1) Blake Countess, CB, (2) Jordan Franks, TE, (3) DeMarquis Gates, LB, (4) Javon Leake, RB, (5) DaMarkus Lodge, WR, (6) Jared Rice, TE, (7) Prince Smith, CB. Notable among the tryouts is Countess, who plays cornerback but also worked as a return specialist at both Michigan and Auburn in college.

Let me see if I got this correct....

The Browns average 7.7 yards per rush and thump Dallas. Cleveland moves to 3-1 while the Cowboys are now 1-3 and tied for the NFC East lead with the team once called the Redskins....

Meanwhile....

Tom Brady throws 5 TD passes in a Tampa Bay comeback win. He's not with New England anymore....holy crap!

The Dallas Cowboys defense couldn't contain the Cleveland Browns offense even after Nick Chubb suffered a lower leg injury. ( I'm not going to discuss the Browns defense in the second half. ) Without Chubb, one of the NFL's best running backs, the Browns still continued to click for the first three quarters. Whether it was Baker Mayfield or Jarvis Landry throwing the ball, the Cowboys secondary was out of sorts, and Odell Beckham Jr. benefitted by catching two touchdown passes before halftime. Backup RB Kareem Hunt also picked up the load on offense. He scored two touchdowns and rushed for 71 yards with an average of 6.5 yards per carry through the first three quarters. It was a win, and a very big win. I think the Browns did start watching the clock, and became very conservative on offense especially in the 4th Qtr. Momentum is a funny animal sometimes, and is very hard to regain when you once lose it.

The Cleveland Browns have lost a key piece of their offense for the foreseeable future. Head coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Monday morning that running back Nick Chubb has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain and is being placed on injured reserve. Stefanski said that Chubb doesn't need surgery, and that his injury isn't season ending. Doctors believe that Chubb is expected to miss about six weeks. This is a big loss for the Browns, as when Chubb left the game he was second in the league in rushing with 335 yards on 57 carries, as well as four touchdowns.

Yes that’s a major blow to the offense. To make it worse Chubb was hurt on the play by other people’s momentum causing them to fall to the ground rollin up the knee of Chubb. Hopefully Hunt and Johnson Can continue to carry the load for the Browns. Without a solid ground ground game our super stars of OBJ , Landry and Hooper won’t be near as effective for Mayfields play-action game getting the ball downfield.

The Cleveland Browns can have 12,000 fans, double the number from their first two games inside First Energy Stadium for this weeks home game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Browns had hoped to get more fans after successful games against Cincinnati and Washington. The State initially granted the team a variance to allow fans, and the Browns implemented strict safety protocols. The team is being grated the increase by the Ohio Department of Health, which informed the team of it's decision on Monday in an email. Several NFL teams are not allowing any fans during the Covid-19 pandemic. On Sunday, the Browns beat the Dallas Cowboys in front of 25,021 fans at AT@T Stadium.
