As of 07-24-21, Cincinnati is 51-47, good for second place in the NL Central. They are 6.5 games behind Milwaukee and 5.5 games behind the Padres for a wild card spot. The Reds are treading water, going 5-5 in their last 10 games.

Helll of a ball player. Offense and defense. Always seems to get a base hit, and plays second base gracefully with speed. Good smart ball player all around.

Brewers are on pace for 95 wins. Reds would have to win 45 of their last 63 to win the division. Doable but the math is not in Cincy's favor. The Reds team has been resilient, often down but they keep fighting back instead of collapsing like prior years. Their biggest need is pitching. Will they deal? Who knows. The X factor is Castellanos who can opt of his contract at the end of the season. Do they trade him for arms or take a gamble he will resign. If he opts , the Reds get nothing in return.

From the Yanks, The Reds get Cessa who is having a great year and Wilson who is struggling due to injury. The Reds give up a player to be named later and take on some salary from NY. Givens from Colorado at least is fresh face. Not home run deals but at least Cessa would be an upgrade over the journeyman AAA relief pitchers the Reds have been using.

Well, just as soon as the Reds trade for upgrades to their bullpen, the Brewers counter by trading for all star infielder Eduardo Escobar. He will give Milwaukee a potent bat to compliment their strong pitching staff. Unless the Reds have more deals in the works, they look like they have not done enough to catch the Brewers.
