Given that the manager is of royal Cincinnati baseball blood (Gus and Buddy Bell) and that his dad is in the Reds front office, I would guess David Bell's job is as safe as safe can be. Unfortunately for the fans, the Reds have only one win in their last sixteen going back into spring training. I hope otherwise, but it looks like the team once again will flirt with a 100 loss season.

I've been blown away so far this year with the pitching (specifically starting pitching). I know it's against the Marlins, but the offense seems to be clicking a little better now too.

I'm not too concerned. Iglesias has shown us who he is the last couple of years, a very very capable closer. He'll get things figured out before too long.

Not a great series for the Reds. But here's the bright spot, there are still 145 games left.

They did beat Padres 4-1 last night and as of 4/18/19 are 6 and 12 on the season, 5 games out and in last place in the NL central division. The upside is that the Reds are playing .500 ball in their last ten game and the pitching has been decent. A lot of baseball yet to be played, but I think our off season optimism because of the trades will prove to be unjustified.
