Scott Elarton back with the Indians

Pitcher Scott Elarton agreed Friday to a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians.

The right-hander, who turns 32 on Feb. 23, was 14-14 in 52 starts with the Indians in 2004-5. He has a 56-60 record with a 5.31 ERA in a 10-year career that also includes stops in Houston, Colorado and Kansas City.

Elarton had shoulder surgery in August 2006 and didn't return to the major leagues until last May 12. He went 2-4 with 10.46 ERA in nine starts with Kansas City, which waived him on July 25. He finished last season in the bullpen in Buffalo, the Indians' International League affiliate.
