Ramon Hernandez? Is that right? I hate to see Freel go.

Personally, I wish they would have traded for Salatamachia from the Rangers. Don't gripe about the spelling. You try to spell his name without looking.

Freel was a gamer but he was injury prone.

Ramon Hernandez has a reputation in the league for being lazy
behind the plate, and being a bad locker room guy.

Hey, nice to get some "pop in his bat", but the trade off is a
BAD defensive catcher who is lazy behind the plate, catching for a young
rotation.

Still only have 3 outfielders in the 40 man spring roster,
they're looking to move Encarnacion to Left, what a joke.
He can't play third, and never has played left. Didn't bother sending him
to winter leagues to develope talent defensively at either position.

What a shame :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Freel was a great utility guy. He doesn't hit great but can play anywhere. This is one guy they should have hung onto.

look for rookie Yonder Alonso to turn lots of heads. he is the next person to come as close as anyone to winning a tripple crown. i hate to make predictions on any rookie who hasnt faced major league level pitching yet, but this guy is awesome, the total package, and he is only getting beter. i followed him while he played for miami, go back and look at his stats from the past 2 seasons at miami....excelent all around hitter, can do it all. he just needs to find a place defensivly, thats his only weakness, but i heard the reds are trying to turn him into a 3rd baseman, he played 1st for miami. but, we all know the reds have a 1st baseman

As of now, I see Dickerson or Hairston in LF. Hairston will probably play SS until Gonzalez is ready to play or possibly Keppinger at SS and Hairston in LF. Still, I agree with the majority above, where's the pop in the OF besides Bruce?

hairston is a utility player at best!!! What happened tot he Jermaine Dye talks from CHW. He is older but can still hit. (+) the Reds love to pick up washed up older [players to try to get one more rejuvenated year

I could see Dickerson starting in the outfield with Bruce and Taveras. Hopper is a nice guy to have to come off the bench to hit, pinch run or be used as a late-inning defensive sub. My projected lineup

CF- Taveras
SS- Keppinger
RF-Bruce
2B- Phillips
1B- Votto
3B - Encarnacion
LF - Dickerson
C - Hernandez/or any other catcher

Leaving Hairston (solid utility player), Hopper, and Janish to come off the bench.

Is Gonzalez ready to play this year? If not, I would trade him for a washing machine, a broom, or something useful.

I think Hairston is good (shrug)....

He just had back problems that really hurt his career. He was a big time talent in the draft and played like it last year. He just needs to be healthy.

I will admit that I am bias toward guys who can get the bat on the ball with good speed.
