It's about that time already!! The Blue Jackets season begins today (10/4) as they head to Detroit for the season opener.

The Jackets have high hopes for the season. As there are a portion of people that expect them to be back in the playoffs.

Here are some major things that have happened both recently and during the offseason:

- All-Star Seth Jones will miss the first 4-6 weeks of the season with a knee sprain.

- Head Coach John Tortorella has been given a 2 year extension on his contract.

- Re-Signed Oliver Bjorkstrand to a 3 year contract

- Re-Signed Ryan Murray to a 1 year contract

- Signed Anthony Duclair to a 1 year contract

- Signed Boone Jenner to a 4 year contract

- Signed Riley Nash to a 3 year contract

Thursday @ Detroit
Friday vs. Carolina

The CBJ got the season started off right last night, as they won @ Detroit 3-2 in OT. Cam Atkinson, Josh Anderson and Artemi Panarin scored one goal each for the Blue Jacets, with Panarin's serving as the OT game-winner. Joonas Korpisalo received the win in net for Columbus, moving to 1-0.

The Blue Jackets fell to 1-1 tonight, after falling to Carolina in their home opener 3-1. Brandon Dubinsky scored the lone Jackets goal.

Saturday @ Tampa Bay

Another troublesome injury for one of the Blue Jackets stars, as Brandon Dubinsky will miss 4-6 weeks with an oblique injury.

The Blue Jackets get back in the win column tonight, defeating the Avalanche 5-2.

CBJ notches another one last night, winning @ Florida, 5-4.

The Jackets lost big Saturday night, losing at Tampa Bay 8-2.

Saturday vs. Chicago

The Jackets went 1-1 last week with a victory over Philadelphia (6-3) and a loss to Chicago (4-1).

This week's schedule:

Tuesday vs. Arizona
Thursday @ St. Louis
Saturday vs. Buffalo

Jackets fall to Arizona on Tuesday, 4-1.

After going down 2-0 in the first period in St. Louis, the Jackets came back and defeated the Blues 7-4.

The Jackets notched another win on Saturday, defeating Buffalo in Columbus, 5-4.

Sunday @ Anaheim

The Jackets are 1-1 so far on the week. They fell to Detroit 5-3 on Tuesday. And, won at San Jose last night, 4-1.

CBJ lost their last two games of this past week. Losing at Los Angeles 4-1 and losing at Anaheim 3-2 in OT.
