Quarterback Case Keenum will most certainly give the Browns a veteran presence inside the Qb room. Keenum is back with Coach Kevin Stefanski, just few years removed from the veteran signal-caller's career best season that took the Vikings to the doorstep of the Super Bowl. Keenum on Tues signed a three-year deal with the Browns, giving the team a reliable 8 year veteran with 62 starts behind starter Baker Mayfield. Case has been a backup in this league, he's been a starter in this league. He understands as a backup how it's your job to support the starter and be ready to play in a moments notice. Bottom line is we're adding a really smart, tough football player to that room. Keenum comes to Cleveland after 1 season in Washington, where he started 8 games and finished with 1,707 yards, 11 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. The Browns are Keenum's 4th team in as many seasons.

That is a really good pickup for the Brownies. A proven winner at the most important position on the field. Ol Baker better not come out struggling or he just might lose his job.

Wide Receiver Jarvis Landry said that the Browns never did find their identity offensively last season despite all the firepower. Given how Stefanski called the Vikings offense in 2019, it's not difficult to envision what Cleveland's offense could be this season. That could help all of the Browns skill players starting with Mayfield. The Browns are going to be a run-first offense which should help Mayfield be a more efficient QB. A heavy and effective dose of running backs, Nick Chubb, Kareen Hunt operating out of multiple tight-end sets will ease the pressure on Mayfield, while also setting him up for some big plays in the passing game downfield to Landry, Odell Beckam Jr. and new tight end Austin Hooper. Kevin Stefanski's challenge in his first season as a Head Coach ? Get Cleveland back to the play-offs for the first time since the 2002 season.

For the Browns in signing free agents following the NFL draft, some of these guys can have fruitful NFL career's. Those opportunity's will be scarce for some of these free agents in 2020, with no preseason and 80-player camp rosters. One of those players for the Browns could be CB AJ Green, ( no not AJ Green of the Bengals ) Green has good size ( 6'2", 198 lbs ) and is physical. He's a little slow ( 4.62, 40 ) he has shown the ability to produce. Last season he had 5-pass breakups, an interception and 39 solo tackles. Given the Browns need for depth behind starters Denzel Ward and Greedy Williams, Green should have a fair shot at making the regular season roster.

The Browns have added an offensive assistant coach to the team, as they have hired Kevin Rogers to the staff. Rogers was the Minnesota Vikings QB coach when current Browns Head coach was an assistant QB coach with the Vikings. ( they should have plenty of experience working together ) Rogers was with the Vikings from 2006-2011, when he went to Boston College for only 1 year as the offensive coordinator. He became an assistant to the Head coach at Temple, and then spent 3 years at William @ Mary, and has not coached since 2016. At the age of 68, Rogers has been around the game of football for a long time, over 40 years to be exact.

The Browns have a new defensive coordinator, Joe Woods. He came to the Browns after a Super Bowl appearance with the 49ers. He has spent time in Minnesota, Denver, and then last year in San Francisco. He said he is very excited to put his own stamp on the Browns defense.

The Browns have placed two players on the reserve/Covid-19 list. Running Back Dontrell Hilliard , Defensive Back Jovante Moffatt. Hilliard has played in 25 games since joining the Browns as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Moffatt joined the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State this past May.

In addition to the two Browns players listed in the post above, there were 4 other players that tested positive for Covid-19, and were also placed on the reserve list as well. They include: DE-Kendall Futrell ( Bengals ), DB-Nigel Warrior ( Ravens ), WR-Jon'Vea Johnson ( Cowboys ) and WR-Aleva Hifo ( Chiefs ).

In the wake of the Seahawks blockbuster trade for disgruntled Jets safety Jamal Adams, the Browns should try to swing a deal for Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, who asked to be traded . A 2017 Pro Bowler , Ngakoue just turned 25, and has notched 37.5 sacks in his first 4 seasons. What's more he's forced 14 fumbles, which is more than twice the half dozen that Myles Garrett has pried loose in his three NFL seasons.

I'm not really sure if any of the Cleveland Browns players have decided to opt out or not but with that being said, there are quite a few NFL players that have chosen to opt out of playing this season. If any of the players have a pregnant wife or girlfriend ( You notice the order that I put that in ) or a loved one living with them, or if either were to discover he had a medical condition that makes him more vulnerable to Covid-19, then it should be very clear as to why a player would opt out. Really it is none of our business as to why anyone opts to take a small stipend ( Which will be paid back in 2021 ) rather than submit himself to all of the unknowns that will come with attempting to play. We will all stop being payed if/when the league shuts down due to Covid-19, so what is it worth subjecting myself to for a quarter, or half of my paycheck ? The opts outs were collectively bargained for a reason. Keep in mind that no one is gaming the system, there is nothing to be gained financially by staying away from the NFL, as in 2021 the stipends are repaid, contracts roll so no one gets closer to free agency, and actually the players get a year older in a sport where youth is everything.

The Browns players will enter a completely revamped facility after passing the 1st Rd of Covid-19 tests. The locker room is no longer a singular entity. The weight room now has lockers. The indoor fieldhouse is also a weight room. The days of the players parking their car, swiping their badge and heading straight to the cafeteria for a quick breakfast are long gone. Until the Covid-19 pandemic comes to an end, the way they traverse the practice facility from entrance to exit will be regimented and backed by a plan that has been crafted with the players health at the top of their mind's. This virus is endemic in our society, the NFL, The NFLPA and really every team have been tasked with making our facilities as safe as we possibly can to mitigate the risk of the extent of the virus, and we feel really good about our plan.

The Cleveland Browns have waived Defensive End Trevon Young with an injury designation. Young was added to the Browns practice squad late last season. He later signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Browns. He was drafted in the 6th Rd in the 2018 NFL draft by the Los Angles Rams.

Cleveland Browns players, Drew Forbes and Drake Dorbeck have both Opted out of the 2020 NFL season. The Browns had their first set of players to opt out of the season, just one day after the players had returned to training camp. Forbes was a 6th Rd pick last year, while Dorbeck, undrafted just decided that he would not play in 2020. Players who are under contract can make a $150,000 stipend from the team, but it won't compare to what they would have made if they had played. There is nothing wrong with being careful however, and each player has a choice to make during these times.

During his media availability on Thurs, coach Kevin Stefanski mentioned that one of the safeguards that the Browns are taking to limit Covid-19 exposure is to split the team into two teams, an Orange and a Brown team. Meetings will remain virtual for the time being, so unless they get together outside the facility, half the team won't see the other team in person.

The Browns have announced today that they have released 4 players, including DF lineman Dustin Zimmer, ( non football injury ), Edge rusher, George Obinna, LB Jermaine Grace, and WR Tony Brown. This reduces the roster to 80, complying with the NFL roster limit for this season, trying to reduce the risk of Covid-19.

Now day's when your team makes a trade for another player that plays the position that you play yourself, instead of working a little harder to earn the position, we just call our agent and demand a trade.

Browns TE David Njoku has recinded his trade request, and has said that he is all in with the Browns. The statement signaled a reversal about a month ago after Njoku hired a shiny new agent and requested a trade. That's good news

The Browns have placed WR Jarvis Landry on the active/physically unable to perform list. The 5-time Pro Bowler continues to work his way back from offseason hip surgery and remains on schedule in his recovery. WR J'Mon Moore ( hamstring ) was placed on the active/non-football injury list.
