Joey Votto delivered in the bottom of the 9th inning with an RBI single that scored Shogo Akiyama to give the Reds a 4-3 victory over St. Louis on Wednesday night. Back to back one-out walks drawn by Akiyama and Curt Casali against Giovanny Gallegos set up the winning moment. Down in an 0-2 count, Votto laced a pitch into right-center field to score Akiyama, snap a three game losing streak, and salvage one game out of the series.

Luis Castillo, one of the Reds big three starters that could make them a formidable opponent should they reach October, was the winning pitcher for the first time this season in the Reds 4-2 win in the first game of a seven inning doubleheader at PAC Park.

The Reds 4-3 loss to the Pirates in the second game of Fridays seven inning doubleheader, might be a little harder to get past than one that was a little less eventful. An error by Joey Votto led to a three run top of the forth that tied the game, and a double-play ball in the fifth decided it.

The good news is the Reds magic number to elimination from the NL Central Division race is 15 and 17 for the wild card. An extra bonus is they are only 4 games out of last place.

During Saturday nights 6-2 win over the Pirates at PNC Park, Eugenio Suarez connected for a career high three home run's and tied a career high with five RBI's, with Tucker Barnhart adding one homerun of his own. It was a much needed victory, after an error and a wild pitch sent the Reds to a one-run loss in game two of Fridays doubleheader.

Erik Gonzalez' sacrifice fly capped a two-run ninth inning as the Pittsburg Pirates rallied to beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 on Sunday afternoon. Josh Bell and Ke'Bryan Hayes began the winning rally with singles off Raisel Iglesias. ( Good old Blown Save Gold Chain ) Bell then scored tying run on Cole Tuckers single, one out later, Gonzales lined out to right field and Tucker easily beat Nick Castellanos' off target throw. I often wonder just how long the Reds fans, and probably a lot of the Reds players are going to be subjected to this guy being the closer for the Reds ? We saw it all last year, and god forbid if it wasn't just a 60 game season, he's just as bad or worse than last year. I thought that the Reds traded and got Arizona's closer, what happened to him? The best thing that could happen to Iglesias and the Reds would be a parting of ways, and I doubt that very few Reds fans would be upset.

That is very possible, maybe even more than 10 games. Most of the time I get so disgusted with them, I don't even want to watch them or read about them.

Trevor Bauer tossed three hit ball into the 8th inning to out pitch the Chicago Cubs ace Yu Darvish and lift the Reds to a 3-0 victory Wednesday night. Mike Moustakas hit a three-run homer in the 1st inning as Darvish's seven start winning streak was snapped. Bauer (4-3) struck out 10 and walked none in 7 2/3 innings while tying his season high with 112 pitches.

Sixteen Games remain for the Reds, and they are 3 1/2 games out of a postseason berth. Games like Thursday night's 8-5 loss to the Cubs only make the task taller and the defeat itself more painful. The Reds haven't won a series since Aug 7-9 at Milwaukee. They had opportunities to take three of their last four series, but lost each of the getaway games. Talk is cheap, and really that's about all that the Reds have provided all season so far.

The St. Louis Cardinals launched four homeruns Saturday night to back up 6 1/3 third innings from Dakota Hudson in a 7-1 Cardinal win over the Reds. We can always look on the bright side of this supposedly promising year for the Reds, as they probably only have to play maybe another 15 games this season.

St.Louis Cardinals pitcher Andrew Miller loaded the bases with a hit batter, followed with a tying 4-pitch walk, then threw a wild pitch that put the Reds ahead in a 3-run 7th inning as the Reds kept up their slim playoff hopes with a 10-5 win over the Cardinals.
