I really don't think that Inches takes anything that most of us say other than kidding him, as I'm pretty sure most of us feel the same way when he gets his famous pacifier out. The only person that would really know would be Inches himself.

I did see where he doesn't disagree about his weirdo coach. But I can tell he is a die hard Michigan fan for sure. :)

Anyways, I sure hope the Reds gets things worked out this year. GO REDS!

Sure could use a year of Joey Votto exploding red hot and healthy.

His swing to me last year seemed like it was always a 3/4 swing check type swing. Not a ripping swing through. Maybe a prolonged back injury ????

Agree, just did not even resemble the Joey Votto of the past years. I hope that age is not one of the key factors, plus the nagging injuries starting to be a major problem going forward.

Was listening to the Jim Day Podcast earlier in the weekend, and this week's guest was Joey Votto. He was saying how everyone is ready and excited for this new team to start playing. He even took awhile off after the season ended (something he's never done before) to clear his mind and get healed up. Hopefully that works!

He starting hitting better not choked up on the bat so high. I hope he keeps the grip he had on the bat towards the end of the season last year.

I really don’t see why Votto couldn’t have another year similar to his 2017 outing. He’s already made a comment saying he’s focusing more on his hitting this year than he has the last two seasons but he’s still got it.

There’s honestly no reason that Votto can’t hit somewhere around .305/.410/.900 OPS with 20 HR’s and 80+ RBI’s.

I hope that you are right, I would certainly take those stats.

For sure.

I thought maybe the age factor might have started to show signs but obviously he has noticed this too. I like hearing him say he took time off to “clear his mind”. That tells me he was still working on the off season. But working his mental health. Mental health to me. In everyone’s lives is important. Tom Brady drew brews has more than proved that age can be defeated so to speak. Takes a speacial kind of athlete to do the things they do. But I’m more than confident Joey Votto has what it takes to blow the roof off the MLB scene. Hopefully he’s mentally prepared to do what it takes to do it.

It’s too bad we won’t be able to see all of the Spring Training games televised! Would like to see how we look and how the invites are looking.

Any additional information on the Reds, have they played any preseason games yet ?

Played three games so far. They are 1-2. Obviously record in spring training means nothing. Most starters haven't had more than a couple at-bats, or pitchers faced more than a batter or two. Later in spring training we'll get to get a better idea of what the team looks like.

Personally, I think our pitching is just fine. We have arguably the best rotation in the NL Central and one of the top rotations in all of the NL. We also have a possible “6th” man in the rotation in Tyler Mahle. Our bullpen depth is strong and made a few big additions too. I know Spring Training is also a time where most pitchers work on their new pitches that they’re testing out. For example, Luis Castillo last year wanted to try out his new slider so he tested it a lot in Spring Training

My takes so far in the early season:

Luis Garcia is a stud. Only 21 years old, has a nice glove and can swing it, as he proved yesterday hitting 2 home runs into the wind. Can very easily start in AA and finish off the season in AAA. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on main roster next year and starting at SS.

0% chance Scott Schebler makes the ball club this year. Way too crowded in the OF now and I just don’t see any room for him. Played yesterday in RF, dropped a pop fly and struck out twice. Good guy, but time for the Reds to move on from him.

Our OF rotation is going to be scary. Castellanos is everyday player easy. Senzel hopefully has a breakout year. Shogo can play any position out there and hoping his game translates. Jesse Winker/Phillip Ervin platoon is top notch as well. Winker slashes RHP with a career .307 BA, .396 OBP, and a .907 OPS. You have to play him against RHP, no questions asked. Ervin slashes .313/.371/.907 against LHP.

Just my early season thoughts! I like being able to get on here and talk some Reds baseball with you all!

Looking forward to your thoughts on the Reds, as you seem to know the Roster on the Reds pretty well.
