The Mad Scientist, Golf Hulk, Swole in One. Call Bryson DeChambeau whatever you want, but now you've got to call him a U.S. Open Champion. DeChambeau, one of the most fascinating characters in golf today, proved that his unconventional, cerebral approach to golf can pay off huge. He authored one of the truly brilliant final rounds ever played at the U.S. Open, a three under gem punctuated by two birdies and an eagle. The only under-par round of the day and the only under par scorecard for the tournament. DeChambeau finished a -6 to clinch his first Major Championship.

Adam Long has already proved he can handle the pressure-cooker for a final round, a final group pairing on the PGA Tour. At the 2019 Desert Classic, he outlasted Phil Mickelson to win his first tour title. Now, Long will have a chance to add a second trophy to his collection. The 33-year-old takes a two-shot lead into the final round of the Corales Puntacana Resort @ Club Championship in the Dominican Republic. Long is searching for his second Tour title, but so is Hudson Swafford, who will start the day two shots back. Infact, a host of up and coming PGA Tour talent lurks.

Veterans continue to shine as the PGA Tour gets the new season underway. The fall portion of the PGA Tour season is a time of new beginnings and blank slates. It's also one that often favors the young guns and new guard looking to make a splash on the big stage. But early into the 2020-2021 campaign, the balance seems to be shifting toward a group of seasoned yet decorated veterans. It's more of the same through the opening round of the Country Club of Jackson, where some familiar names are off to a fast start. Yes, defending champ Sebastian Munoz picked up right where he left off, spinning an 8-under 64 as he looks to become the first ever to go back-to-back at the Tour's lone Mississippi stop. But the three other players sharing the lead boast significant credentials, ranging from major championship wins to team appearances.

Cameron Davis set out with a simple goal of trying to improve his ball-striking during the third round of the Sanderson Farms Championship. He did that and then some, making birdie on his first five holes of the day, and adding an eagle on the second nine en route to shooting a tournament low 9-under 63 at the Country Club of Jackson. Davis, said it was nice to get on the train. It's been while since I've had a kick like that to start out my round.

Sergio Garcia had gone just more than a year since his last victory, which felt even longer considering that he failed to make the FedEx Cup playoffs, and fell out of the top 50 in the world for the first time since 2011. One week, and two big shots, changed everything. Garcia hit a 5-wood that barely cleared a bunker and set up an eagle putt from just inside 4 feet to tie for the lead, and he then won the Sanderson Farms Championship with a 8-iron to within 30 inches of the cup for birdie on the final hole. The perfect ending for an amazing week, said Garcia.

Bryson DeChambeau put on another power display on Thursday and it worked just as well as when he won the U.S. Open. In his first start since winning at Winged Foot last month, DeChambeau had two-putt birdies on all three of the Par-5's, and two of the Par-4's on his way to a 9-under 62 and a one-shot lead in the Shriners Hospital's for Children Open.

Martin Laird exacted some revenge on the 17th hole at TPC Summerlin while breaking a seven year victory drought at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Laird made a lengthy birdie put on the second extra hole to beat Matthew Wolf and Austin Cook. It's the fourth career victory for Laird, his second at this event (2009) and his first since the 2013 Valero Texas Open.

Dustin Johnson has withdrawn from the upcoming C.J. Cup with Covid-19. The PGA announced that Johnson felt symptoms and notified the Tour. An ensuing test came back positive. Johnson said that obviously, he was very disappointed. He said he was really looking forward to competing this week, and will do everything he can to return as soon as possible. Johnson, the FedEx Cup winner and the No-1 ranked golfer in the world, hasn't played since finishing in a tie for 6th place at the U.S. Open in September.

Britains Tyrrell Hatton, coming off a European Tour victory last weekend at Wentworth, fired a seven-under par 65 Thursday to grab a one-stroke lead at the U.S. PGA CJ Cup at Shadow Creek. One day after his 29th birthday, the Englishman had three birdies and an eagle in his first five holes, finishing one stroke ahead of American Russell Henley and American Xander Schauffele, and two strokes above Spain's Jon Rahm and American Tyler Duncan.

Xander Schauffele rolled in six straight birdies en route to an eight-under par 64 and a three-shot lead after the second round of the US PGA Tour's CJ Cup in Las Vegas on Friday. Schauffele's 14-under total of 130 saw him vault over first round leader Tyrrell Hatton, who finished the day in second place at 11-under at Shadow Creek. Schauffele, coming off a fifth place finish at the US Open, started on No-10 and shot 29 on his front nine, stringing together six birdies from the 13th through the 18th. He then cooled coming in, but still finished with a bogey free round.

Jason Kokrak, in his 10th season, in his 233rd tournament can finally call himself a PGA Tour winner. Kokrak earned every bit of it on Sunday in the CJ Cup at Shadow Creek. He matched the best round of the tournament with an 8-under 64, to overcome a three-shot deficit at the start and win a duel on the back nine with Xander Schauffele. Kokrak said he couldn't be happier, it feels like home. I've played this golf course enough that I should know it by now.

World No-1 Dustin Johnson has withdrawn from this week's Zozo Championship a week after testing positive for Covid-19. Although he was eligible to play this week's event at Sherwood Country Club, because it would have been more than 10-days since the onset of symptoms, he has opted to rest. While he is feeling much better, he is still a bit low on energy and feels it would be best to wait and resume his schedule in Houston. He understands the import- ance of not rushing things and wants to be smart about his recovery.

Patrick Cantlay finished the final round of the Zozo Championship with a one-stroke lead Sunday and made a beeline for the Sherwood Country Club practice range. With two of the top three players hot on his heels, Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas, Cantlay was convinced his narrow edge wouldn't hold, and that he'd be back on the course in short order. But neither Rahm nor Thomas could close the gap, and Cantlay, who was the World's top amateur during his UCLA days, held on for his third victory on the PGA Tour, and the first in his home state. He was as unwavering as his even-keeled personality, shooting 67, 65, 68 and 65 over the four days. Thomas and Rahm tied for second, one stroke back of Cantlay who finished 22-under par for the tournament.

Brian Gay rolled in a long birdie putt on his first extra hole to win the Bermuda Championship on Sunday, and return to the PGA Tour winners circle for the first time in seven years. The 48-year old came from behind to defeat fellow American Wyndham Clark, who at one point enjoyed a three-stroke lead in the final round, and earn his fifth Tour victory. Gay kicked his game in gear down the stretch and finished it off with back to back birdies on the 18th hole at the seaside Port Royal Golf Course. Gay was in disbelief after carding a closing 64 to finish the tournament 15-under 269.

PGA Players are happy to have limited fans allowed on PGA Tour. Both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open were played without spectators, and next week's Masters will also not have any fans on-site as Covid-19 case numbers continue to surge across the country. Last week roughly 500 spectators a day attended the Bermuda Championship, and the Tour is viewing the Houston Open as a test case for bringing back fans in greater numbers and at more tournaments in the first quarter of 2021.

Carlos Ortiz held off Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama by closing with a 5-under 65 to win the Houston Open on Sunday, becoming the first Mexican to win on the PGA Tour in 42 years. It was the loudest cheer for a winner since March. The Houston Open was the first domestic PGA Tour event that allowed spectators, with 2000 tickets sold daily. The last Mexican-born player to win was Victor Regelado, who won the Quad Cities Open in 1978.

After rain delayed Thursday's first ever Masters in November, a number of golfers will need to complete their opening rounds before second-round play can begin at the Augusta National Golf Club. Roughly half the field was still on the course when tournament officials halted the proceedings because of darkness. After Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player hit their ceremonial tee shots, nine players completed one hole before a three-hour weather delay. Everyone will be chasing Englishman Paul Casey, who posted a 7-under 65 to take the early lead. Defending Champion Tiger Woods shot a bogey-free 68 as he begins his quest for a sixth green jacket and 16th major championship.

Justin Thomas 66-69, Dustin Johnson 65-70, Cameron Smith 67-68 and Abraham Ancer 68-67 a Masters rookie all share the lead at 9-under after finishing their second round at the Masters. Still to be determined is what that position will be, as there are still players within striking distance still yet to finish their second round. Hideki Matsuyama was at 8-under with three holes remaining in his second round, while Jon Rahm was also at 8-under and had six holes left to play, including both Par-5's on the back nine. With a few of these players still to complete their second round, we may have a different or new leader by the time the third round gets started.
