Denny Hamlin has joined Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan, to form a NASCAR team with Bubba Wallace as the driver, a high profile pairing of a Black majority team owner and the only Black driver at NASCAR's top level. The partnership was announced Monday night. Historically, NASCAR has struggled with diversity and there have been few Black owners. Jordan said the timing seemed perfect as NASCAR is evolving and embracing social change more and more.

The most coveted seat in NASCAR belongs to Alex Bowman in a Hendrick Motorsports lineup shuffle, to replace seven-time champion Jimmy Johnson in the iconic No-48 Chevrolet. Bowman and crew chief Greg Ives, who won five championships with Johnson as his engineer, will move from the No-88 into Johnson's ride at the end of the season. Bowman said it's definitely pretty similar, you go from replacing the most popular driver of all time, to replacing arguably one of the greatest of all time. It's just an honor for me to get to drive another car with a great number. For everyone who has the confidence in me to do it just means the world to me.

Trackhouse Entertainment Group, founded and owned by Marks, announced Wednesday it had formed a Cup series team and will debut at the 2021 Daytona 500 with Suarez as it's driver. The team will field the No-99 Chevrolet, and will operate with an alliance with Richard Childress Racing, including technology, intellectual property, human capital and engineering. Trackhouse will be powered by ECR Engines, which recently announced a formal collaboration with Hendrick Motorsports that will begin next season.

The next three races determine who comprises NASCAR's final four. These races will be thrilling based on the points as they run alone. The championship is now to be decided at Phoenix Raceway. There is a 95% chance that Kevin Harvick will be one of the final four racing for the NASCAR Cup Series Championship next month at Phoenix Raceway. Who will join him amongst the seven remaining contenders remains an open question. For the seventh season in a row, the best finishing driver of the four in the championship race at Phoenix captures the crown.

Joey Logano scored his third win of the season, but his first since March 8th Sunday at Kansas Speedway to become the first driver to advance to the November 8th Championship at Phoenix Raceway. Logano held off Kevin Harvick in leading the last 45 laps. Harvick finished second followed by Alex Bowman, Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch, who remains winless this season. Two playoff drivers finished outside the Top-10, Denny Hamlin was 15th after hitting the wall and losing a lap to make repairs. Kurt Busch finished 38th after an engine blew on his No-1 Chevrolet.

NASCAR calls off it's track drying team as new mist clouds roll in, then officially moves the race to Wednesday at 3PM. on NBCSN, when there is supposed to be a break in the wet weather.

Suspended NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson will return to competition in 2021, signing a multi-year deal with Hendrick Motorsports. Larson will take over the team currently driven by Alex Bowman, but it will be rebranded as the N0-5, a number HMS's has used previously. Cliff Daniels will serve as Larson's crew chief. Bowman is moving to the organization's No-48 car next season to replace Jimmy Johnson. NASCAR just recently announced that Larson will be cleared to return to all NASCAR racing activities on January 1st, 2021.

Kyle Busch scored his first Cup win of the season Wednesday at Texas Motor Speedway, to extend his streak of consecutive seasons with at least one win to 16 years. Martin Truex Jr. finished second, while Christopher Bell placed a career best third followed by Ryan Blaney and Alex Bowman. Joey Logano remains the only playoff driver who has secured a spot in the Championship Race at Phoenix, since Kyle Busch had been eliminated from title contention previously. Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski hold the final three transfer spots for the title race going into Sunday's race at Martinsville. Harvick is 42 points above the cutline while Hamlin is 27 above and Keselowski is 25 above.

Chase Elliott needed to win to advance to the Championship Round and he did so. In the process it led to Kevin Harvick being eliminated from Title Contention. Elliott led 236 of the 500 laps to score his first win at Martinsville and his first win at a short tract. Ryan Blaney finished second and was followed by Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Kurt Busch. Next weekend at Phoenix Raceway, Joey Logano, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski will race for the Cup Championship.

Jimmy Johnson participated in his first Indy Car open test on Monday. The Ganassi No-48 turned laps around Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama. Jimmy Johnson has a steep learning curve ahead of himself, and very little time to overcome it before the start of the 2021 NTT Indy Car Series season. The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion made the overnight flight from Martinsville, Virginia, to Birmingham, Alabama after the Xfinity 500 for the single-day Indy Car Series open test at Barber Motorsports Park.

Chase Elliott is this years NASCAR Cup Series Champion. Elliott had the best car throughout Sunday's title race at Phoenix Raceway and easily cruised to his first Cup Series Title over Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin. Elliott, 24, passed Logano for the race win and the Championship with 42 laps to go and set sail as the three drivers he was racing for the title couldn't come close to mounting a challenge. Elliott led a race high 153 laps.

Jimmy Johnson walked into his final news conference of his NASCAR career wearing a black hat with "One Final Shot" on the front of the hat. When he was told that he was the first driver in the room after Sunday's race at Phoenix Raceway, the seven-time Cup Champion had a quick response, He said, "I finally won something this year." Johnson closed out one of the greatest careers in NASCAR history by finishing fifth at Phoenix, first among all the drivers not in the Cup Series Playoffs.

After closing his career in the N0-48 Chevrolet with a fifth-place finish Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, Jimmy Johnson spent the next two days doing some driving on two iconic layouts of California's Central Coast. Johnson spent Tuesday testing his No-48 Dallas-Honda at Weather Tech Laguna Seca Raceway. The Monterey, California, track will play host to one of 13 road and street course races that the seven-time NASCAR Champion will drive for Chip Ganassi Racing in the 2021 NTT Indy Car Series season.

Matt Kenseth looks to be officially calling it quits on his full-time racing career. The 2003 Cup Series Champion was hired to replace Kyle Larson at Chip Ganassi Racing after Larson was fired in April. Kenseth, 48, ran the final 32 races of the 2020 racing season as Larson's replacement, but CGR said this fall that Ross Chastain would take over the No-42 car in 2021. Kenseth said that he still looked forward to continuing his racing career, but that he probably wouldn't be back in NASCAR in a full-time capacity ever again.

Tony Kanaan will have another chance for a proper IndyCar farewell tour with a two-year deal on ovals to parter with Jimmy Johnson at Chip Ganassi Racing. Kanaan will compete in the four oval events on the IndyCar's 2021 schedule that Johnson does not plan to run. The seven-time NASCAR Champion signed on for the road and street course events, and Ganassi announced Monday that Kanaan will complete the season in the No-48 Honda.
