Shohei Ohtani has been awarded the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award for his impressive dual-sided performance during the 2021 season, in which he was named an All-Star starter for the AL at both the starting pitcher position, and as the designated hitter. Ohtani is just the 15th player to receive the Historic Achievement Award, which was created in 1998, where Cal Ripken Jr was the first to receive the award. Not only is he just the 15th ever to receive this award, he is the first since 2014 when Derek Jeter received it upon his retirement from the game.

The Roberto Clemente Award is given annually to a player who best represents the game through play on the field, character, community involvement, and philanthropic efforts. This year's award winner is deservedly, Nelson Cruz, one of the favorites in the game today. Cruz has been honored not only due to his high level of play on the field, and his known high character, but also due to his generosity with his time and money, supporting his native Dominican Republic throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as ongoing support to help end the cycle of poverty in that country.

Nelson Cruz joins former Minnesota Twins' players Kirby Puckett and Rod Carew in winning this prestigious award.

The Hank Aaron Award has been presented now in both leagues.

In the American League, the honor goes to Vladimir Guerrero Jr, after his stellar season with the Toronto Blue Jays. Vlad tied for the MLB lead in home runs (48). He also led the AL in on-base percentage (.401) and slugging percentage (.601). Finally, he led all MLB players in runs scored (123) and total bases (363).

For the National League, Bryce Harper took home his second career Hank Aaron Award for the Philadelphia Phillies. Harper led the MLB in slugging percentage (.615) and OPS (1.044), while finishing with a .309 batting average. In addition to launching 35 home runs, he hit 42 doubles, which led the majors.

The Reliever of the Year Award was handed out yesterday, with some deserving bullpen arms getting the nods.

In the National League, Josh Hader of the Milwaukee Brewers took home the award yet again, his third time, making him the first three-time winner of this award, recording a 1.23 ERA and 34 saves over the course of the season.

Liam Hendriks took home the hardware in the American League. The Chicago White Sox Reliever now makes that his second consecutive season winning the award, after finishing with a 2.54 ERA and 38 saves.

The first of the major awards were released last night with the announcing of the Rookie of the Year awards.

In the National League, as everyone expected, Jonathan India of the Cincinnati Reds has been named the NL ROY. He becomes the first Red to win the award since Scott Williamson in 1999. India received 29 out of 30 first place votes, making him the near unanimous choice.

Following his incredible postseason in 2020, then his impressive rookie campaign this year, Randy Arozarena of the Tampa Bay Rays has been named the AL ROY. He received 22 out of 30 first place votes on his way to winning the award.

On Tuesday night, Manager of the Year Awards were released.

In the American League, Kevin Cash of the Tampa Bay Rays won his second consecutive honor for Manager of the Year, joining only Bobby Cox as the only two managers to win the award in back-to-back years. Cash also joins Joe Maddon, winning the award two times as the manager of Tampa Bay.

In no surprise to anybody, Gabe Kapler won the National League Manager of the Year award, after he led the San Francisco Giants to an MLB-best 107 wins, which is the second most wins in one season ever for a National League team. He is the first San Francisco manager to take home this award since Dusty Baker won it in 2000.

Cy Young award winners were named last night, and both winners were extremely deserving.

Robbie Ray took home the American League Cy Young after an outstanding season for the Toronto Blue Jays. Ray led the MLB in strikeouts (248), and also led the AL in ERA (2.84), innings pitched (191 1/3) and WHIP (1.045). He is now the first Blue Jay to win this award since Roy Halladay in 2003.

In the National League, Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers took home the Cy Young. During a dominant season, Burnes led the MLB in ERA (2.43), strikeout rate (35.6), and just about every advanced statistical category. He became Milwaukee's first Cy Young winner since Pete Vuckovich in 1982.

With no surprise to anybody, Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels has been named the American League MVP. He won the honor unanimously, which is a big statement from the voters. His teammate Mike Trout won the award back in 2016.

For the National League, Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies was named MVP, his second time winning the award. His first win came in 2015 when he played for the Washington Nationals. The last Phillies player to take home those honors were Jimmy Rollins in 2007, and Ryan Howard the year before that in 2006.
