Sugar Bowl: OSU vs Arkansas
Re: Sugar Bowl: OSU vs Arkansas
WVU fans in Southeast Ohio have it pretty rough. They are always surrounded and outnumbered by Ohio State fans wherever they go. To make things worse, Ohio State is so far superior to WVU in every aspect of college athletics that it begins to eat away at their rationality. Mix that in with the confident (some say cocky) attitude of Buckeye fans and they just can't take it. They then must drink up all the Haterade they can, spew it all over the rest of us, and occasionally jump on the SEC Bandwagon so they don't have to walk home and think about yet another miserable season in a sub-par conference.

I seem to recall mens basketball games between OSU/WVU the last two years. What were the results?CLane wrote:WVU fans in Southeast Ohio have it pretty rough. Re: Sugar Bowl: OSU vs Arkansas
Huggs had kick-butt teams that the Bucks didn't matchup well against and WVU basically handed OSU their lunch both those times. (OSU did have a 10 pt. lead in Motown that quickly evaporated after halftime) Props to the better team in those instances, which was WVU.
Now, as far as entire athletic programs, this is like comparing apples and oranges. They have totally different "skins" and "tastes." WVU holds there own in mens and women's b-ball, baseball for the most part, mens and women's soccer, and alot of the other non-revenue sports. They are great in rifle, for example.
There is still a huge difference in the football programs, sorry WVU fans. I mean the entire program, not just the play on the field. OSU has far more in terms of amenities and facilities and tradition (see national championships), not to mention the amount of players drafted into the NFL all-time. They recruit only a handful of the same players and the state of Ohio is a hotbed for high school talent, unlike WV. TOSU is and has long been considered among the nation's elite football power programs, not an up and comer in the past decade. We have the reputation as a top 5 or 10 place to go play college football. Still, some of our fans want Tressel's head even after the current string of 6 or 7 Big Ten championships; the winning streak and overall 9 of the 10 vs. arch rival Michigan; and 9 straight BCS bowls, of which, 3 were the national championship game.
WVU just showed their coach the door to his farewell tour after 3 straight 9 win seasons, grasping for the elusive dominant program. Will WVU fans be satisfied if their next coach does what Tressel has done at OSU in his 10 years, in the next 10 in Motown? I'd say they'd elect him governor, university president and anything alse he wants if he could match Tressel's record. While, like I said, many think that 11 and 12 win conference championship seasons at OSU are a disappointment.
That's the way it is. Like it or not.

Keep in mind though, the Buckeyes spend as much on their football team as WVU does on their entire athletic department.
Oh, and the Buckeyes are superior at rifle.

This game may be decided off the field if the allegations of some OSU players violating NCAA rules are true.
The General Troll will have some new material now......thank goodness!

Bucks win and go get 2011 Sugar Bowl Champions tatoos after the game
Re: Sugar Bowl: OSU vs Arkansas
Some of the OSU players may be playing in their NFL auditions and trying to perform well enough to raise interest level in their draft stocks. I honestly do not see a couple of the suspended players coming back for next year. I don't think that we have heard all of the bad news yet and there will be more allegations surfacing in the near future.
I know several OSU fans will not like this, but IMO they need to be suspended for the bowl game. The fact that they are being permitted to play shows how classless and greedy the NCAA actually is. You boys are going to be suspended, but only after we make as much money off of you that we possibly can and ensure our sponsorship is secured for the following year.....a bunch of BS!

Ah, but you'll never convince a lot of the "high profile booster fans" as I call them, that OSU did anything wrong and those rose colored glasses come to light once again. Also, the NCAA is a joke and at the University level the truth hurts but some people ($) don't want those things brought to light. JMO

FANOSPORTS, has the new Governor's children graduated college or will they be getting their WVU degree since to them?

I am a huge Buckeye fan and knew it was just a matter of time before OSU was in the spotlight. If you read closely, most of the OSU fans are actually pretty realistic and will not try to make excuses for violations, but they will however circle the wagons and defend from outsiders taking cracks at the team they support.
I am more concerned about the way these young men will handle the situation. Will they say screw it and really start taking some of the kick backs that are readily available? Especially the ones that do not plan on returning to OSU next year and just go pro after this. They will not be held accountable, but OSU will be liable for any additional and future infractions that have or will be committed.

I didn't know OSU even had rifle. Are you sure they are superior?

I think you meant to say "sent" to them but then I wouldn't want to suggest your spelling is lax in certain areas. If I didn't know any better I'd say you are an Ohio State grad with a degree in English ?Charge wrote:FANOSPORTS, has the new Governor's children graduated college or will they be getting their WVU degree since to them?
