Re: The Difference between the SEC and everyone else...
Maybe fightingtigers45 can help with this question: When was the last time an SEC team played a Top 20 team north of the mason dixon line? If it has happened in the past 5 years, could someone tell me how many times it has occured and what SEC schools were involved in the games?

Last time Florida played out of conference, above the Mason-Dixon line was in the early 90's.
They traveled to Syracuse, to play in a Dome!!!

So not many I guess. FT45 is right though, they dont have to. The problem with the system is that they need a playoff. I would like to see the top 16 play off with NFL playoff format. Higher seed plays at home. There really has never been a true college champion.

Auburn played at WVU in 2008. I'm not sure where or if WVU was ranked at the time.
LSU comes to WVU next year.

The big ten and PAC ten play fairly regularly but you never see any of those
Or hear of those schools wanting to play the big ten in late November. But on a side note if I was a 5
Star recruit and being from the great lakes area I want seriously
Consider play Ina warmer conference. But would do it....no,

^^ big difference in bikinis and snowsuits to a young man.............at least there was to me when I was that age, nearly 20 years ago. Heck who am I kidding, still is a big difference. lol
Difference is recruiting morality and rules within the conferecne guidelines. Someone smarter than myself probably has the facts but I wonder how many conference guidelines limit recruits to a number like the BigTen does?? I certainly commend those that do have limitations. It isn't a level playing field but more than that it isn't a good situation to be in when a sr could lose a scholly to a frosh based on ability alone............ That may be the way life works but a bad lesson to impose on a youngman and in time, it may/should come full circle and cause recruits to rethink things when signing with a school with low morals values. Def needs to be NCAA rules regarding the issue and seems like an issue that could be resolved fairly simply if the NCAA really wants to do the right thing, they certainly have rules for every other silly little thing surrounding athletics. It would also be an issue easy to investigate and track, heck anyone can track it from a computer.

The Mason-Dixon line is the straight line boarder that runs from below Virginia to about Oklahoma.
Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Missouri, all are above the MD line.

More recruits should remember that it is a 40 year decision and not just a 4 year decision. The grad. rate at some schools is really sad. As far as teams from the south playing in cold weather it was hilarious watching Miami in the Sun Bowl, they had more layers of clothes on than a shoplifter at Walmart.

It's definitely starting to happen. OSU just picked up a home and home with Georgia.Raiderball wrote:eccedomusscientiae wrote:Actually, I believe Morgantown is south of the mason dixon line. LSU comes to WVU next year.Although I wouldn't consider WV a southern state I guess it is actually south of the Mason Dixon Line. If you want to nit pick though, more power to you.
I am anti-playoff, but my only "upside" thought on a playoff is OSU hosting a team from the deep south in a late-December/early-January playoff game.

My apologies, the border I mentioned is Tge 36tg parralell, otherwise known as the Mussouri Comprimise.
The MD line separates Pennslyvania from Maryland and Virginia, now West Virginia.
