Ohio State covid rumors pick up steam. From Sports Illustrated:

The college football national championship game faces a potential postponement amid COVID-19 concerns at Ohio State, according to Sports Illustrated's Ross Dellenger.

Dellenger reports that "there has been discussion" about postponing the game, particularly if the Buckeyes' COVID issues worsen.

The national title battle between the Buckeyes and Alabama is currently slated to be held on Monday, Jan. 11 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. If the game is delayed, it will likely be held one week later on Jan. 18.

There are concerns regarding Ohio State's availability for the national championship, per AL.com's John Talty and Matt Zenitz. The Buckeyes could reportedly be without a whole position group for the matchup due to COVID-19 testing and related protocols.

Ohio State is continuing to prepare for a matchup on Jan. 11 despite the COVID-19 concerns, per Yahoo Sports's Pete Thamel. University AD Gene Smith told ESPN "We intend to play on Jan. 11," but added "But who knows what tomorrow will bring? That's COVID. We're on track right now." It has not been announced which, if any, Ohio State players have already tested positive as of Tuesday.

Still no report of a problem coming from TOSU or media that covers the Buckeyes. Everything filtering out of the Alabama camp so hopefully the rumors are just that, rumors.

Indeed, but given the silence coming from the OSU camp and media one would assume the game will be played as scheduled. Even with a few missing parts, Stats has the talent to hang with Bama. The question becomes can the Buckeyes mount one more heroic effort? I honestly have no idea how the game will play out. I am still trying to digest the Clemson win.

Agreed. If they can come out firing on cylinders as they did against Clemson they will be a handful. it’s going to take that kind of effort I believe they can do it. I just hope we stay healthy

Been little to no talk as to rather or not aThe Buckeyes are deserving to be there to play for the National title. If anything it’s been the exact opposite. I was kinda of hoping we got the world against us approach as we got against Clemson.

Fields does NOT have broken ribs.
He is sore, but will be ready to roll.

My concern is OSU playing off the LOS with their CBs group. Bama doesn’t throw over 15 yards, then hit short routes and let the WRs make YAC. Missed tackles will be the difference in the game. If OSU gets Smith and Harris to the ground and doesn’t give up a bunch of yards after contact, then the Buckeyes win.

Bama cleaned house at the college football awards tonight. Quite a few of them on the all-American team.

Ohio State has another Unanimous All-American, as right guard Wyatt Davis became the latest Ohio state player to earn the honor when he was named a First-Team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, sweeping first-team honors from all five selectors, the Associated Press, AFCA, FWAA, Sporting News and the Walter Camp Football Foundation, who determine consensus and unanimous All-Americans. Davis, who was already a First-Team All-American in 2019 but not a consensus All-American, is the third Buckeye to earn Unanimous All-American honors in the last two years, following former Ohio State defensive end Chase Young and cornerback Jeff Okudah last year.

If the reports of possible DL starters being out for covid are false, we win this game.

I do not for a second think Bama can keep Mack Jones upright against a fully healthy (and available) front 7 from the Bucks.

Oddly enough the betting line has been steady at Bama -7.5 so Vegas is not giving much credence to OSU being short handed. I guess they see neither defense being able to stop the other's offense regardless of who is available. First one to 50 wins? The first team to punt loses? It will be interesting to watch.

OSU is done testing, they arrive in Miami Saturday at 5:30pm.
Fields does NOT have broken ribs. His issue was/is a Hip Pointer.

Hard to nail down a solid list of players out, but Tyreke Smith and Miyan Williams are likely on that out list. Tommy Togii is rumored to be positive as well, but that may have been a false positive, they are awaiting the PCR confirmation for that.

Fields with a hip pointer maybe worse or as worse as broken ribs. That’s a no joke injury

We won it last time with a 3rd string QB.....we may need some players step up snd play like they haven’t missed a snap all year in the biggest game yet.....
