Why would Bielima leave for Arkansas when he has a nice gig at Wisconsin? Fear of Meyer?
Sucks to see Hazzell go to Purdue. MAC could have a monster year next season.

Alvarez is leaving after the year.
Bielima is looking at a run of 8-4 seasons at best if he stays.
He might not do any better at Arkansas, but he has to cash in while the chips are high.
3 straight B10 titles, though OSU have him all 3.
Rumor is Arkansas might be paying him around 4 million per year, that's 1.5 per more than Wisconsin.
Also, the SEC is known for paying assistants well, something that few B10 schools do, and a huge reason why the SEC is so deep.

Re: Bielima out at Wisconsin, Hazzell in at Purdue!
I don't think we can say he's ducking Urbz and Hoke, when he's joining a division that now has:
Saban, Miles, Sumlin, and Malzhan.
Plus the other 1/2 of the SEC.
I do think he's simply realized that he has capped out at Wisconsin, and has no chance to live up to a standard that he has set.
Better to move on, to a program that is in the basement, but has recent strength to build around.
And for anyone thinking that power, B10 style football can't work in the south, please reference a certain former Michigan State coach that has had "decent" success in the SEC.
Don't take that as me saying Bret is in Saban's class, but don't be surprised when he has the Razorbacks back to 9 wins soon.

Are you guys joking? Please say yes.
Afraid of Meyer? He is going in the same division as Nick Saban, the unquestioned best coach in college football. Also in the division are another national title winning coach and the presumptive Heisman winner, a freshman.

Put the breaks on Hazzell to Purdue, he's told his players that he's not taking the Boilermaker job.

Nevermind, apparently Hazzell will be going to Purdue.
That's what I get for trusting a Purdue "insider blog".

I hear he still wants to coach in the bowl game.

Actually I do agree somewhat that he is afraid of OSU. At Arkansas he will be paid much better. At Wisky he is now expected to win the title every year. At Arkansas, by your own admission, the expectation won't be as high. 9-3 at Wisky (which is his reality) is unacceptable. 8-4 at Arkansas will be just fine. He can achieve that there.fightingtigers45 wrote:Are you guys joking? Please say yes.

Re: Bielima out at Wisconsin, Hazzell in at Purdue!
Bielima leaving is not credited to urban coming to Columbus. His reign of power in the B1G was coming to a end though. Going to the sec west isn't gonna be any easier, actually alot harder but with a good bit more money in the wallet.
Personally I'm glad to see him to take his cry baby a$$ elsewhere. If he thinks urban doesn't play far or wants to whine over small things, wait til he steps into sabans world and the rest of the sec. He better coach out the rose bowl for Wisconsin because it will be the last BCS bowl he sees from the sideline.
Beilima is a good coach no doubt. Not a great coach and far from a premier coach. Espn has been talking him up, but if it involves the sec they will talk anything up. Yes this will be his 3rd straight rose bowl but he has lost 2 in row (prob gonna be 3) and OSU and PSU stupidity let him go this year.
15-16 combined against OSU, Michigan, PSU, MSU, Iowa and Nebraska.
1-5 against OSU
No big out of conference wins.
2-4 in bowl games. 0-2 in BCS.
But he is 23-1 against Minnesota, Purdue, Illinois and Indiana lol
But hey they're are paying him big money and he will be out of our hair so works good for me lol

Re: Bielima out at Wisconsin, Hazzell in at Purdue!
Epic fail. Bielima will not stand a chance recruiting against the Sabans, Miles, Spurriers of the SEC. Arkansas football is in the gutter right now in the SEC and they dont have a strong offensive running game at all which is Brett's bread and butter. Good luck developing your next Monte Ball behind a line that is sitting at 108th in the FBS in rushing this year. Yeah, that will attract the big blue chip offensive players...LOL.
Too many times these hires that happen immediately after the regular season is over (but before the bowls) blow up. Of course Arkansas wants someone out there to brand the recruiting, but I just dont see Bielema getting the great talent in the southeast. To say he has an uphill fight is an understatement.
I will say he goes 5-7 next year.

Re: Bielima out at Wisconsin, Hazzell in at Purdue!
What does it say about the Big Ten when we lose one of our coaches to the SEC? The Big Ten should be a DESTINATION OF CHOICE for all coaches in college football. The Big Ten is the richest conference in the nation so there is no reason that our coaches and assistant coaches shouldn't be the highest paid in the nation. Step it up a notch, Big Ten. Let's see who Wisconsin hires as coach. It is in the best interest of the conference if Wisconsin hires the BEST COACH out there. We need to step it up as a conference and have 5-6 teams in the top 10 every year like the SEC.
