2013 National Title Odds

Post by run-n-gun »

Season just ended, but there's already an early poll for what teams have the best chances at winning the title next season. Here are the teams with the highest chances to win, according to SB Nation:

Alabama 4/1

Oregon 8/1

Ohio State 17/2

LSU 12/1

Texas A&M 12/1

Florida 14/1

Florida State 14/1

Clemson 22/1

Louisville 22/1

Notre Dame 22/1

I look for the Buckeyes to definitely be in the running to play the SEC in the national championship game.

There isn't a loss on the Buckeyes schedule next year.
There are tough games, that could end up as a loss, if things don't bounce their way.
But right now, OSU would be favored by at least a FG in every game, more than a TD in most.

That said, the schedule is not good.
They must run the table, and have the rest of the conference do better as well.
We could very well give Michigan their 1st or 2nd loss, and see them again the next week in Indy.

If we are one of 3 unbeaten, I think we might get snubbed.
If we are unbeaten and not #1, we could get jumped by a 1 loss SEC or Oregon.

The schedule is not tough. This, thankfully is the last year of an overly soft schedule.

I agree completely. With the schedule they have to go undefeated to even be considered and at that they may be in the rose bowl and not the BCS title game.

The schedule is very favoring and allows a good opportunity to go unbeaten again. But as we all know, going undefeated is not easy task in college football.

I'm sure if Meyer has it his way, each game will be a statement and look to pour it on every team they play. Which I would love to see the offense come out and just go wild and the defense dominate.

The SOS picking up is definitely going to be needed with the upcoming playoff. With the 4 teams in the playoffs being selected by a committee rather than final poll standings, if say style points, SOS, margin of victory will be some of the bigger factors. The human eye will judge differently than a computer. Much like the NCAA basketball selection committee, the four #1 seeds aren't always the top 4 ranked teams.

That schedule is pretty awful. Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan are the only teams that SHOULD challenge the Buckeyes.

If you think that's bad, check out Texas A&M.
If they don't capitalize on a schedule this year, they never will.

This is why Im a big fan of running up the score and just burying a team every chance you get.

years ago, i'd have disagreed, but when announcers , who are voters . talk about style points---you about have to in order not to drop.

I'm planning to go to Baltimore for the Navy game in 2014.
Going to head out early, and go to the Academy on Friday.
