Ohio State will kick-off their 2020 campaign this weekend in Florida. They'll start the weekend on Friday against St. Joseph's at 1pm at the North Charlotte Regional Park. Followed by Pittsburgh on Saturday at the CoolToday Park. Then, finally, they'll face Indiana State on Sunday, when they'll be back at the North Charlotte Regional Park.

The Buckeyes kicked off their season at the Snowbird Classic in Florida over the weekend and finished with a 2-1 record. On Friday, they surprisingly fell to Saint Joseph's by a final score of 7-3, and couldn't get much going in that game. Then on Saturday, they got back on track and picked up a 4-1 victory over Pittsburgh. Finally, on Sunday, they defeated Indiana State 10-6 in 10 innings of play.

Next up, Ohio State will travel to Atlanta for a 3 game series at Georgia Tech Friday through Sunday.

Playing on the road against top notch competition is never easy, and the Buckeyes found that out this weekend as they played a three game series at #19 Georgia Tech. Ultimately, OSU dropped all three games, starting with a 12-4 loss on Friday. On Saturday, the Buckeyes were at least able to make a respectable game out of it, as they fell 5-2, and then on Sunday were dominated again, 12-2.

Next up, Ohio State has a three game series, beginning Friday, at Lipscomb.

Seems as if the Buckeyes are giving up a lot of runs, not sure if it's the starting pitchers, or the relief pitchers, or maybe both ?

Disappointing weekend for the Buckeyes in Nashville, losing their final two games, 5-4 and 4-2.

Next up, Ohio State heads to DeLand, Florida, where they'll take on Stetson, Harvard and Fairfield next weekend.

Wow, not a very good start to the season for the Buckeyes so far, especially in losing to some of the teams that have been beating them. Hoping with so much of the season still ahead of them, that they can turn things around and still have a successful year.

Lipscomb 4 Ohio State 2 (Baseball)
Lipscomb (8-2) came from behind late to defeat Ohio State (3-6) for the 2nd game in a row.
Maddux Houghton had a RBI sac fly to give the Bison a 1-0 lead after one. Nick Erwin (1) blasted his first college bomb to pick the Buckeyes up 2-1 after 4 1/2. In the 7th the Bison plated two runs, when Brian Moore squeezed a run in to lock it up at two. Haddon Adams added a sac fly RBI in the inning to make it 3-2. The Bison added another run in the 8th to make this a 4-2 game.

The Buckeyes wrapped up their weekend in Deland, Florida with a winning record. After a slap in the face on Friday, falling to host Stetson 9-1, OSU followed that up with two straight wins to wrap up the weekend. They crushed Harvard by a final score of 13-1 on Saturday, and then cruised by Fairfield 8-3 on Sunday.

Next up, Ohio State stays in Florida and travels to Jacksonville on Tuesday and Wednesday, to play a two game series at North Florida.

I'm not sure if the Buckeyes have a very young pitching staff, or even what there ERA is, but they are giving up an average of 6 runs a game, and I'm pretty sure that once they start Big 10 play, they are going to be playing a lot better teams than what they have faced up to this point of the season.

Overall, a young pitching staff. But I have confidence that Coach Beals can start getting things turned around. He hasn't won 300+ games at OSU for nothing.

The Buckeyes got two more games under their belts playing in Florida, as they split a two-game series at North Florida. They defeated the Ospreys on Tuesday in dominant fashion, 10-2. But on Wednesday, they lost the finale 9-5.

Next up, Ohio State will be at home for the first time this year as they host a 3-game series against Liberty, beginning on Friday.

In the 2020 MLB Draft held earlier this evening, the Detroit Tigers selected Dillon Dingler, former Ohio State catcher, with the first pick of the 2nd round, ( No 38 overall ) making Dingler the earliest Buckeye to be selected in the draft since Alex Wimmers was the No 21 overall pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2010 draft. Dingler is a native of North Canton, Ohio. Former Buckeye pitcher Seth Lonsway is also hoping to hear his name called at some point in the 5 rounds this evening.
