Valenth's Thoughts from Week 2...

Post by Valenth »

Well l, week #2 in the books and I got a LOT of thoughts from this week....

#1. Ohio State has a Lot to work on.... After losing to the Ducks on Saturday... The defense stepped up in the 4th quarter, but the offense now is showing a lot of weakness... I think Ohio State needs to be more balanced and start running the ball a lot more. And this loss might be the thing needed for the Buckeyes to really show what they need to work on. And they got some work to do for sure.

#2. Oregon might be the sole chance for the PAC12 to make the College Football playoff. Oregon did what they needed to do to win. USC got handed a surprising loss to Stanford and Washington fell to Michigan. The PAC12 is looking like the PAC12 of the past right now. But Oregon needs to remain undefeated for the PAC12 to make the College Football playoff.

#3. The ACC might be the worst Power 5 Conference this year.
With Florida State getting shocked by Jacksonville State and NC State Falling to Mississippi State AND Notre Dame at home Escaping TOLEDO in the final minutes of the Game?!.. Clemson is the Best team in the ACC... and maybe a small outside Shot North Carolina or Pitt might be their only hope.

#4. Texas gets a Welcome gift from Arkansas... And Arkansas in a Tweet rubbed the salt in the wound with a Tweet "Welcome to the League."

#5. Iowa likely will be the B1G West Champion... They took down the Cyclones in a annual rivalry... And Iowa looks like a nice rounded team right now.

#6. BIG XII... Oklahoma is their only Chance... The BIG XII Also looking WAY DOWN after Texas and Iowa State Falling. The only other team that might compete is Kansas State or Maybe Baylor. BUT, The Sooners right now is the only hope.

#7. The SEC WEST is looking a lot more interesting. With Arkansas getting a Big Win vs. Texas and Texas A&M eeking by Colorado ... I see Alabama leading with Ole Miss, Auburn and Texas A&M and Arkansas fighting for that 2nd place spot in the SEC WEST.

#8. The SEC EAST is Georgia's to Lose... The Dawgs are looking good! And I see 2nd spot LIKELY being Florida.... Then 3rd will more than likely Kentucky. The Rest of the SEC EAST outside of these 3 teams is....meh....

Thoughts? LET ME KNOW!

Outside of the SEC, chaos reigns in college football which is good to rekindle interest in the collegiate game.

PAC 12 looks to be Oregon and UCLA.

The Big 10 looks to be Iowa and Penn State. Will the Buckeyes finish 3rd or lower in the Big 10 East if they keep giving up 500 yards a game? Is this Harbaugh's year to finally beat OSU?

SEC is Bama and Georgia. ACC is Clemson and Oklahoma looks good in the Big 12.

The question early on is how good are the Cincinnati Bearcats?.A case can be made that UC is the best college football team in Ohio.

OSU DOES have ALOT to work on. Oregon had 269 yards on 38 attempts...a 7.1 avg. The Buckeyes had 31 attempts for a paltry 128...4.1 avg. The secondary had to keep an eye towards the backfield...that opened up the play action pass. The O line and D front 7 have to perform better....or else.

Iowa looked good yesterday. I think no one really knows for sure who will play in conf. title game. I feel things will come to fruition by Halloween.

In my mind...it is Alabama...Georgia.....and someone in positions 3-5. Who? No one really sticks out. You could make a case for: Florida, Iowa, Auburn, Oregon and a couple of others.

A neighbor had a thought...could Bichigan be undefeated when they travel to Penn State? Again...just a thought

Oregon looked really good against the Buckeyes. They can play ball control and go to warp 9. I like them.

Just my thoughts...plus one from a neighbor (a UK grad)

Bama travels to Gainesville for a HUGE game this Saturday. This will have major implications in the SEC and rankings.

Ohio State has major scheme problems on defense. CJ Stroud played very well throwing for nearly 500 yards. If they can change the defensive scheme and get some of the poor performers off the field, it can be fixed.

If they fix it they still win the B1G Conference. I see them playing Iowa in Indy.

Right now their defense is dog sh!t and its a carry over from last year's defense that was gouged by even mediocre offenses. Coombs needs fired as DC asap. Decent position coach, terrible DC.

Another big game that I'm surprised is not being talked about a lot is Auburn at PSU. First time an SEC team has been in BIG Ten country for I don't know how long. I know years ago people were clamoring for this to happen!
