The 5th-ranked Buckeyes hit the road this weekend, playing the North Carolina. They'll be competing in the ITA Kickoff Weekend. There are four teams at each site, at the Chapel Hill regional, OSU will be joined by North Carolina, Arizona State, and Northwestern. Ohio State kicks off their weekend on Saturday when they play Arizona State. Depending on the result of that and the other first round match, the two advancing teams and the two losing teams, will play each other. The team that finishes the weekend undefeated gets a bid to the ITA Indoor National Championships.

The Buckeyes (7-0) posted another dominant home victory over the weekend, this time hosting #6 Virginia on Sunday, posting another shutout 4-0 victory. OSU got out of the gate fast, needing only to finish two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. They wrapped that up with singles wins at 1, 2, and 4, once the match was called due to one team reaching the 4 point threshold. This is how it went:

Singles:
1. #21 Cannon Kingsley (OSU) def. #13 Chris Rodesch (UVA); 6-3, 6-2
2. #5 Matej Vocel (OSU) def. #71 Bar Botzer (UVA); 6-3, 6-3
3. Jake Van Emburgh (OSU) vs. #52 Inaki Montes (UVA); Unfinished
4. #42 James Trotter (OSU) def. #66 Jeffrey von der Schulenburg (UVA); 6-3, 6-2
5. #14 JJ Tracy (OSU) vs. #27 Ryan Goetz (UVA); Unfinished
6. Robert Cash (OSU) vs. Gianni Ross (UVA); Unfinished

Doubles:
1. #1 Vocel/Cash (OSU) def. Rodesch/Woodall (UVA); 6-3
2. #2 Trotter/Boulais (OSU) vs. Montes/Goetz (UVA); Unfinished
3. Kingsley/Tracy (OSU) def. Schulenburg/Botzer (UVA); 6-3

After sweeps of the #1 and #6 teams in the nation over the weekend, look for the Buckeyes to be vying for the #1 ranking this week.

Next up, Ohio State continues their big non-conference slate of matches, as they host Kentucky on Friday, and then host Wake Forest on Sunday.

The newly ranked #1 team in the nation, the Buckeyes, kicked off their weekend with yet another sweep over a top-10 opponent, this time sweeping #10 Kentucky, 4-0 on Friday night. The two teams finished the minimal number of matches, 2 out of 3 doubles, and 3 out of 6 singles, and that's all OSU need to take home the victory. Here is the how the individual matches went:

1. #16 Cannon Kingsley (OSU) def. Millen Hurrion (UK); 6-2, 6-4
2. #6 Matej Vocel (OSU) vs. Liam Draxl (UK); Unfinished
3. Jake Van Emburgh (OSU) vs. #5 Gabriel Diallo (UK); Unfinished
4. #11 JJ Tracy (OSU) def. Francois Musitelli (UK); 6-1, 6-3
5. #36 James Trotter (OSU) vs. JJ Mercer (UK); Unfinished
6. Robert Cash (OSU) def. #37 Joshua Lapadat (UK); 6-1, 6-4

Doubles:
1. #1 Cash/Vocel (OSU) def. Hurrion/Draxl (UK); 6-3
2. #2 Trotter/Boulais (OSU) vs. Musitelli/Zemel (UK); Unfinished
3. Tracy/Kingsley (OSU) def. #57 Lapadat/Mercer (UK); 6-3

Ohio State will not have it easy yet again, as their tough non-conference schedule continues. They will host #6 Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon.

Luckily for the Buckeyes, their first Big Ten matches that actually count in the conference standings don't begin until this weekend, as they were shutout at #11 Michigan last Friday, 4-0, in a "non-conference" match. Here is how it went.

Singles:
1. #5 Matej Vocel (OSU) vs. #57 Andrew Fenty (UM); Unfinished
2. #63 Ondrej Styler (UM) def. #8 Cannon Kingsley (OSU); 6-4, 6-4
3. #11 JJ Tracy (OSU) vs. Patrick Maloney (UM); Unfinished
4. Jake Van Emburgh (OSU) vs. Gavin Young (UM); Unfinished
5. #72 Jakob Bickersteth (UM) def. #26 James Trotter (OSU); 6-4, 7-5
6. Nick Beaty (UM) def. Justin Boulais (OSU); 6-4, 6-4

Doubles:
1. #1 Vocel/Cash (OSU) vs. #10 Fenty/Ehrenschneider (UM); Unfinished
2. #50 Styler/Young (UM) def. #3 Trotter/Boulais (OSU); 6-3
3. Maloney/Beaty (UM) def. Kingsley/Tracy (OSU); 6-4

Next up, Ohio State will host their first two Big Ten matches of the season. They'll host a solid Illinois team on Friday, and then #20 Northwestern on Sunday.
