Where should the Big Ten Championship Game Be Played?

Green Bay, WI, United States (AHN) - The Green Bay Packers are reportedly interested in hosting a Big Ten football championship game at historic Lambeau Field, multiple sources reported Thursday.

Packers president Mark Murphy told ESPN Thursday they are “ very much interested” in holding a Big Ten football title game on their historic home pitch.

Murphy added they already inquired Big Ten for the proposal, which they deem a win-win deal for college football and their community.

The Big Ten became eligible to hold a football championship game after absorbing former Big -12 member Nebraska last month.

Big Ten officials are expected to set the schedule of the championship game in their meeting on August 2-3.

Aside from Lambeau Field, Chicago's Soldier Field, Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium, Detroit's Ford Field are also bidding to host the event.

Murphy said he expects a formal bidding process and believes having a football title game under snowy conditions would be a nice attraction.

It has been 27 years since Lambeau Field hosted a college football match. The last one was between Vince Lomabardi’s alma mater Fordham and St. Norbert College.

Each state the Big Ten+2 is in should get a chance to host the game. Then rotate the game every year.

Big ten fans love the cold so playing outdoors shouldn't be a problem. 1 year they could hold in at Minnisotas new field and the next it could be in Detroit or Pitsburg, Then Ohio...The stadium could be either or but I just like the idea of rotating the game.

Pittsburgh? That wont be happening...The Panthers aren't even a member, and if there is any sanity left in this world that's the way it will stay...

Cleveland at least then they would have a champion in that city for one night. Its gotta be played in cold weather not in a dome. Of course it will coem down to money that will decide where it gets played.

Indy, because we all know they will never have a home state team playing in it.

I voted for Chicago. Grass field, it outside and its a football mad town. 25,000 seats to each school playing in the title game.

I agree that Indianapolis is probably the most convenient of the pro stadiums, but I do like the idea of rotating this game among the stadiums.

I am excited about the possibility of Ohio State playing for the Big Ten Championship in the first year of the championship at Lambeau Field. I think that location in and of itself will help draw a huge national audience. I don't think one location should have a monopoly on the championship game neither, but rotating this game between locations would be my preference.

i just can't believe cleveland was mentioned without paul brown stadium even given a thought. the irony of our mods. lol. i'd have to say if they did not rotate them, indy would probably be the more centrally located, but i don't like dome ball either. it should be played in the elements as well as superbowls , and bcs championship games. move them around everywhere. if you are a warm weather team, and get a cold weather stadium draw , tuff stuff. it's been happening to northern football teams for decades.
