Urban Meyer Reigns!???
Listening to ESPN radio currently, and word is that in a couple hours Meyer is set to announce his resignation from Florida.
Have to wonder if this comes about why?
Health?
Pre-Emptive leaving ahead of issues?
Easy out in order to take Michigan job if available?
I would guess health and stress.
Guess we'll learn more soon.

Re: Urban Meyer Reigns!???
Confirmed. He is resigning and will be talking to the press at 6.
Peliminary word is that he "is burnt out".
And in order to coach Florida at the level he wants, he fears his health will worsen.
If this is the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, then Congrats to a great coach.
I have a feeling though that we will see Meyer on the sidelines somewhere soon.

I think this is equal parts health and the SEC catching up to his system.
Urban is a great coach, and has a tendency to have great timing when it comes to leaving a job and taking a new one.

I think he is OSU's next coach when Tressel hangs it up. Not to bring up bad memories but this article tells a lot about Meyer and his loyalties to Ohio. So I think if he is to coach again, it will be the OSU job. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/ ... ohio_x.htm

I think he is leaving because of stress, but I also think he feels he may have to spend a couple more years getting Florida back to the top and is not prepared to go through it.

Urban will take some time and consult with Brett Farve before he makes his final decision.

Re: Urban Meyer Reigns!???
I take him at his word that he is burnt out. I can't imagine the pressure to win, even if you love the work and are committed. He had real health problems after last year but his heart wouldn't let him walk away. Another year probably just confirmed the need to take a rest. He might not be able physically to do this gig. Look for him to land in a TV booth somewhere until he recovers and the itch to coach just has to be scratched. Take a break, Urban. See you on the sideline sometime in the future.

His "heart problem" was diagnosed as essentially an incredibly horrible heart burn issue.dazed&confused wrote:I take him at his word that he is burnt out. I applaud him if he truly takes this time to be with his family and be a great person.
However we've seen this song and dance before, and if ge uses this as a way to get a new gig, then he's a ba$tard!

Denver Broncos old coach would be perfect replacement for the Gators. He already knows how to cheat which is an SEC requirement.

Re: Urban Meyer Reigns!???
The only 2 requirements I know of as far as the SEC is concerned,is to be the best college football conference in America, and to beat tOSU EVERY time one of their schools play them...Doing a pretty good job at these recently I would say...Wouldnt you charge?...
